Hey boys,
Please see http://thehockeypool.com for the final standings in the Tomcats 2015 Playoff Pool.
Congrats Cribzie on taking the title! I have a fresh $100 for you next week. Lovie finished second and pulls in a solid $30.
Thanks for playing boys, it was a very competitive pool with many guys in the running deep into the pool. Kenny finally popped up above the crowd in the last few games and said “screw you”!
Hollywood and I will be hosting the 2015/2016 Regular Season Extravaganza next week, Tuesday, October 6 at 8 pm after hockey. Please bring your $10 entrance fee as well as a tendency not to sit for 37 minutes reviewing a crumpled up sheet only to try and attempt to draft Sidney Crosby in the 13th round…
See you characters there.

Week Two In The Books by Harry Ballsonue

“Enthusiasm is the greatest asset in the world. It beats money, power and influence.”

                                                   Shaquille O’Neal

Teams

May Day Nightingales Doc, May Day, Kamikaze, Stevo, Matador, Hurricane, Razor and Beep

Hollywood Warblers  Lovie, Shack, Killer, Chevy, Tunzie, Snowpants and Hollywood

Spinner Swallows Sunny, Cribzie, Falcon, La Bamba, Soupy, The Turk and Spinner

THANK YOU CAPTAINS FOR BEING CAPTAINS……

As I sat in the press box tonight, with my fellow colleagues, covering the games,  I noticed some good old fashion enthusiasm on the Kapusta Kow Floor, it may have been the weather, ( a bit cooler out, than last week) or maybe it was the fact that it was the second night of hockey and everyone was just getting comfortable out there once again, almost ‘mid season form’, you can call it.

photo1

Caption “Guys are great and they are comfortable with each other, here Chevy, Spinner and Tunzie watch the festivities of last week, ‘Life is Good’ as a Tomcat“

Lovie made his season debut, as did Killer and the Turk. Junior, oh……well…..no Junior, sump pump problems apparently had him as a scratch for the night, “His house does not even have a basement”, stated May Day.

The Matador and Beep put on quite a show for the Nightingales, making passes, plays and scoring goals, the grind line of Doc and Kamikaze, held their own too, notching a few goals themselves.

The Warbles had impressive outings by Tunzie and Snowpants. The Swallows countered with the flying cousins, Sunny and Soupy.

Overall a good night of hockey, with minor disagreements on some interference and a ‘stepping on a stick’ that saw the Beepster go down.

Spinner also stepped on a step and went down, but all was good after on stage, and that is what counts.

The three star selection as Selected by La Bamba, the third star, May Day the Second star Razor and the first star Matador.  Razor played exceptionally well, making save after save and keeping the Nightingales in the game.

A solid goes out to Cribzie who brought out a bottle of Crown (Just Because). ‘Put her there Cribzie’!

Ogie also gets a shout out for providing 14 beers…..also….. on a ‘just because’ basis and he is thousands of miles away.

The league would like to remind everyone to keep the body work to a bare minimum and to play the ball.

Is there a Windsor Tomcat NHL Hockey Draft next week? (for the regular season)  I have not been told anything by Lovie or Hollywood, so I am assuming there is not.

Caption:  Tomcats went to Battle Creek Michigan golfing a few weeks ago and played a beautiful course called Yarrow, here the boys are all prepped and ready to play, if you love to Laugh and Laugh,

drink a few beers and golf…..and drink a few beers, this trip may be for you.

Stevo is once again organizing a Tomcat Battle Creek Golf outing for September 2016.  The dates are September 13,14,15 and 16. Stevo has sent out an email to anyone who has played before and or who has expressed interest in possibly going.  He is looking for a fifty U.S. deposit to hold your spot if you are so inclined.  Money and YOUR commitment must be in by November 1, 2015. If you have any questions, please see Stevo on a Tuesday night or text or email him.

It is an expensive trip, that is lots of fun.  Take your panties off and go!

As you are sipping from the Crown Royal, do you think I could put my Harry Ballsonue.

The ‘Start of the Season’ gift was well received. “I like it”, indicated the Matador. Who has a drawer strictly for Tomcat clothing.

Overall, Hockey went well, except for a small incident, when Chevy and Doc collided in the corner behind the net and Doc saw Chevy’s elbow hit his chin.  Doc went down like a sack of potatoes, and laid motionless for a few
minutes.  He then got up on his own but was lead of the Kapusta Kow Floor, where he was taken to the ‘Dark Room’ (for a concussion check).  Once he got in there, he was alone and did not
know what to do, so he spanked one off, then he noticed a Red Ball Harness Set, so he put it on and then the door opened……

Hey, while you are thinking what happened next in the dark room, do you mind if I put my Harry Ballsonue.

During my prostate exam I asked the doctor, “Where should I put my pants?”“Over there by mine,” was not the answer I was looking for. BY HEYWOOD JEWBLOWMEE

Before a season begins, many things need to happen, first the Kapusta Kow needs to be cleaned up and become ready for the Tomcats. Since the last time the floors were cleaned by Kapusta Kow personnel was 1977, the Tomcats decided to step in and clean up the floors on stage, the bathrooms and the playing surface. Also the metal on the side walls were screwed back into place, as seen here with Lovie doing the trick.

Lovie on his hands and knees….is there really a caption needed for this ?

Thanks to Doc leading the charge, He, the Kamikaze, Lovie and the Green Giant got the job done. “It was quite a bit of work, but I am so glad we did it,the place looks a great deal better”, a beaming Doc indicated. Thanks guys, that is the Tomcat Spirit!

Doc cleaning The Turks dressing toilet out …..

Doc not only washed the playing surface floor, but the washroom area where the Turk has hung his jock strap for 28 years as a Tomcat and for 20 years before that as a member of the Ukrainian Hall. “I can tell you they did a great job, Panne Snactchkowsky and Panee Vaginovska would be proud of the work done here” The Turk had indicated.

Kamikaze using the vacuum to clean up dust balls that still are on the floor from 1977

Kamikaze, used a KLR Super Shop Vac to get some of the dust off the floor., “Let me tell you here and now, you needed a super industrial vacuum to get the dust up, it has been here since Trudeau was the Prime Minister”, stated Kamikaze

The Green Giant handy with a mop or hockey stick ….he can do it all …

The Green Giant, a part time player, but, with moves like this on the floor, with the Mop could be moved ahead of some regular Tomcats, did the Kapusta Kow Floor Proud, with a mopping job out of this world. “I just love the Tomcats, I would do anything for the Tomcats, ….yes anything.” a grizzly Green Giant indicated.

Fantastic job, you deserve the credit for doing that for your brother Tomcats!

In Other News…..Some of the Tomcats, along with head Coach Sea Lion, and Building Maintainance Director Sandy Beach, European Head Scout Toronto Doc and the Vice President of Hockey Operations the Bundura attended the Training Camp portion in Battle Creek Michigan, and they played golf at a beuatiful course called Yarrow. here you can see the guys, in all their glory. “I tell you, I have gone for many years, but I have never laughed as much as I have laughed this year, ” Indicated Cribzie, then added “and down goes Frazier”.

Windsor Tomcat training camp opened in Battle Creek Michigan, here a number of Tomcats took in Yarrow…that will soon close to be a drug rehab Center ….lets hope no Tomcats need to attend there any time soon.

“It is always a great time, but this year, we had the best guys we have ever gone down with”. Stated long time attendee The Bundura. “I love it, it was a fantastic time, I recommend it to anyone who likes to have a beer, loves to laugh and laugh and likes to golf. Beg your wife to go, it is well worth it.” indicated La Bamba.

With Battle Creek done, and the floor all polished up, and the first night of hockey over with, the hockey season has begun.

Tomcats Forever!

I am surveying the Tomcats to determine if there is any interest in a Ryder Cup Format Fall Golf Tournament.

Format

Foursomes – 9 Holes
Teammates alternate tee shots. Player ‘A’ tees off on odd-numbered holes, and Player ‘B’ tees off on even-numbered holes. After the tee shot, teammates alternate shots until completion of the hole.

Fourball – 9 Holes
All four players play their own ball. The team whose player has the lowest score wins the hole. If the teams tie, they halve the hole. The team that wins the match receives one point, and if the teams tie they each get 1/2 point.

Singles – Holes
Players compete in match play head-to-head. The best score per hole wins that hole and tied holes are halved. The player who wins the match earns one point for his team. Ties are worth 1/2 point to each team.

The format can be adjusted depending upon how many golfers are interested. Teams will be selected by two team captains. This will make sure the teams are even and competitive. Captains will be responsible for pairings.

Date:  I am thinking of Saturday October 10, 2015 – Weather permitting. It is the long weekend but if your kid’s hockey is not in full swing and you have no family plans until the Sunday, we can maybe get that one last round in.

Location – To be determined. I am thinking Deer Run in Blenheim – It’s a 27 hole course and inexpensive. Although many Tomcats have no problem driving an equivalent time and distance stateside to golf, Deer Run may be considered too far. If so, I can look at booking the Tomcat Home Course, Belleview for 27 holes.

Cost: To be determined – Golf is inexpensive in the fall so …

Party After: To be determined.

I am asking that all Tomcats respond to me (RSVP) and we can further discuss this at opening night of hockey.

Nick

Less Than A Month to Start of Season by Harry Ballsonue

Less Than A Month to Start of Season by Harry Ballsonue
I know that preparations are starting for the upcoming season. Doc is trying to organize a crew to get out to the Kapusta Kow to clean up the floors. Rocky is building new nets for the season and most of the Tomcats are doing their off season work outs, getting ready for the upcoming season.

Coach Sea Lion is excited for the up coming season, but does not want to put the horse before the cart, as there is still the Battle Creek Michigan Golf outing. “We have two new Tomcats going this year, and I know that Soupy and Crow will just love the time there with their fellow Tomcats” Sea Lion indicated. It will be Soupy’s first time going to Gull Lake, but Crow has gone for many many years in the past, but has never gone with the Tomcats until this year. “I am really looking forward to this trip, as I missed my May trip this year, going with the Tomcats will be a great time, I just know it” Crow had stated.

Also going this year, along with the Sea Lion, Crow and Soupy are Head Tomcat Scout, Toronto Doc, Vice President of hockey operations, for the Windsor Tomcats, The Bundura, Kapusta Kow Palace Maintenance Director, Sandy Beach, Heart and Soul of Tomcats Stevo, The Dreamy Cribzie, little Energy Bunny Snowpants, Sexy Sparky, Fan Favourite La Bamba and past participant, but has not gone for a few years, but going this year Spanky. And speaking of Spanky, sign in a window in Oxford Michigan.

“Home of the Spanky” ….you just know it’s full of goodness just like our very own Windsor Tomcat Spanky

Rumours are also swirling about Tomcats favourite band Ghost Crossing touring this year and that they will be making a stop in Windsor on November 6, Ghost Crossing band spokesperson Hollywood  had this to offer, “The venue right now has not been set, but once we get that figured out, I hope that each and every Tomcat will go. It is a fun raiser that I am planning for the Dancing group that i run and there will be whole night of fun and entertainment and yes, Ghost Crossing will be appearing”. a beaming Hollywood indicated. Ticket sales to start a the end of September.

Windsor’s own Ghost Crossing to appear in Windsor November 6
The October St. Felix is coming out September 1, I have seen the mock up and LOVE IT! Can’t wait for the finished product to be put up on the web site.
Cost for the season is $40 and is to be paid in the first three weeks of hockey. Start of the season gift has been decided on and everyone will love it I am being told.
IMPORTANT: The Beer list is now up on the web site so please check it out to see when your beer night is……
So, with only four weeks remaining before the season starts, lots of things happening. Coach Sea Lion says, get some golf in, Doc says, let’s fix the hall up, Rocky says Nets look good and are a touch bigger then the old ones and I say hey, while you are thinking about the start of the season, do you think I could put my Harry Ballsonue.

No golf event to cover this week, but instead a Wine Tour and Doc is the organizer. “It was more of meet and greet type of event” a beaming Doc indicated and then continued, “People want to meet celebrities and here they got the top four within the Tomcat organization. Stevo, the heart and soul of the Tomcats,  Crow, a franchise player and a constant MVP, Hicksee a brand new Stanley’s Cup winner and winner of the Pantelon de Neige Jug (Tomcat golf outing) and up and coming shining star The Kamikaze” indicated Doc.
Doc's Wine Tour For Charity brings out lots of celebrities ....here are Stevo, Hicksee, Crow and the Kamikaze

Doc’s Wine Tour For Charity brings out lots of celebrities ….here are Stevo, Hicksee, Crow and the Kamikaze

The event drew folks from all over the province of OntarIo, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania. “I am a huge fan of the Kamikaze, he is just so damn cute”, stated Amy Perkins of Norton Falls Pennsylvania.
Kamikaze and Princess Katie

Kamikaze and Princess Katie

The event saw close to 5,600 fans line up to meet and get an autograph from one of the Tomcats present, “Yeah, Crow was the number one guy sought after for autographs”, indicated Doc, “but a few came up and asked me for an autograph too” Doc stated with a smile from ear to ear.
Doc and Lady Bird

Lots of ‘want to be’ professional ball hockey players attended a 15 minute presentation by Stevo on “The in’s and outs of Professional Ball Hockey”. Moms and sons listened attentively as Stevo spoke about the importance of LSD. (Mom’s gasped) But Stevo explained the LSD stood for Love, Satisfaction and Dedication of the game he loves so much.

A very successful day, but let me ask you, as you are sipping on your Shiraz, do you think I could put my Harry Ballsonue.
