TEAMS Beeps Bongs, Captain, Beep, Killer, Tunzie, Sunny, Rake, La Bamba, Hurricane and Chico
Kamikaze Kannibus Captain, Kamikaze, Chevy, The Terror, Stevo, Jingles, Soupy, Snowpants, Sparky and Tonto
Last night, the games were sponsored by Killer Farms.  They Sponsored the night, calling it, Killer Devils Lettuce night. All fans were given two dubaronees when they entered the Kapusta Kow Palace.
Very good hockey, with the Beeps Bongs taking both games, the first game, with the shots 67 to 10 for the Bongs, they won 8-5.  The second game, they took 10-8 (open net goal at the end).
Special thanks to Sparky for bringing Cheese and Kielbassa and Crackers. And kudos to The Rake for brining a 24 of Mill Street Organic.  Very Classy.
Tomcat line dominated, with Killer, Hurricane and the Rake.
We are learning that the Turk may be out for the rest of the season.  Trying to confirm this with the Tomcats but they are very hush hush on the topic, The Turk was sent to his homeland to see a herbalist, a hip specialist a knee specialist and a Bundura Teacher, He took his lovely wife with them, not sure how many Tomcats shirts they took to wear in Ukraine.
In other injury related updates, Tomcats are saying Skuz is looking at a return on December 18. Rocky is looking at coming back mid November. Skippy is still on long term IR.
There was some interest in knowing who the Captains are for the tournament come February, well here they are, the Tonto Keemosabies, Sunny Rays, Snowpants Storm and Rocky’s Racoons.

Teams:
Soupy Seamen: Captain Soupy, The Terror, Chevy, Hurricane, Sheep Dog, Killer, Jingles, Soupy and Snowpants
Sunny Sailors: Captain Sunny, Hollywood, La Bamba, Stevo, Kamikaze, May Day, Chico and Bulldog
I’ve got to tell you Sunny and Chico did a great job on the blog last week. I enjoyed reading it. It was short and informative, what more do you need then that.
Another scorcher at the Kapusta Now Palace? Actually it was not bad, one player bailed because it was going to be hot. Won’t mention any names, but it rhymes with lake and take.
The Seaman took the first game 8-4 and then the Sailors stormed back with a 4-1 victory in the second game. Killer brought a 24 of MGD, God love that man.
If you can’t play next week, let Stevo know, so far…. out, Hollywood, Hurricane and Bulldog, plus the list of players on the IR.
Tomcat Christmas party date still being looked at, stand by for an announcement on that from Sunny.
Chevy will be looking for interested parties to attend the Battle Creek trip next September, the deposit is $150 American. Steep? Not if you are committed to going. Look for an email in the very near future, unless he fills it with guys who committed this past September, then maybe he will go to 16.
Hockey was very good last night, keep up the fair play and have fun and enjoy a beer with your chairman, some fantastic friendships have been created over the years, Tomcats Forever!
While you are thinking ‘hmmmmm what rhymes with Lake and Take and for goodness sake, do you think I could put my Harry Ballsonue

Matador Mustangs: Matador, Terror, Killer, Jingles, Bulldog, Soupy, Tonto and Kamikaze
Chico Chimps: Chico, Falcon, Stevo, Beep, Sunny, Chevy, The Rake and May Day
Tons of talent on the Kapusta Now Floor, but the conditions were warm and getting the flow down, was a hard thing to do.

Thirty years Mayday and the Rake slugging it out …” he has taught me so much I owe my whole hickey career to May Day,”said The Rake.

The Mustangs shone and won, 6 -3 in the first game and 6-4 in the second.  “We gave it what we could”, stated Beep, “Just getting the flow going was tough.  I think we need the temperature outside to drop 15 degrees”.  Beep added
Sunny is running the operation next week.  If you can’t make it, let him know or Stevo.  BUT if you know right now, why wait? Let them know now.
Sheep Dog spoke to the Tomcats about a fund raiser for the Stomper’s Cousin, anyone interested can purchase tickets from Sheep Dog.
IN GOLFING NEWS
Chevy sent out a survey for all those who have participated in the past going to Battle Creek and to all those who had some interest at one time or another.  Please take the time to fill out the survey and return the survey.  It all starts with you.  Chevy is trying to get ideas from everyone, so please provide your thoughts and ideas to him.  You can make a great golf trip, greater.

TEAMS:
Soupy Snakes – Soupy, Falcon, Slim Jim, Tunzie, Tonto, Spinner and Jingles
Beep Beasts – Beep, Chevy, Chico, Stevo, The Rake, May Day and Sparky
What a steamy night.  I don’t need to say more.
Guys seeing each other, guys loving on each other.  A goal gets scored with a hand pass, no arguments, no fuss, ‘yaeh hand pass, your ball’. What a brother hood.
There was a score, first game, the Snakes took it 11-8 and the second game, the snakes took it 3-2.
The ball was sticking to the floor, but it stuck for everyone.  There will be no balls placed on the ice in the beer cooler.  If you are caught thinking it, you will be fined a case of beer.
Kamikaze brought some delicious salami, everyone wanted to thank Sparky but it was Kamikaze who brought it.
Stevo took his old seat back, sitting on the right side of the stage.  “exit stage right”, Snaglepuss (look it up if you are too young to know that phrase)
The 30th year started just like all the others, guys coming in smiling, laughing, it is what the Tomcats are all about.

Ceremonial face for the 30th Anniversary of the Tomcat season …” yes I was here thirty years ago when this all started …guys have come and gone but I can tell you one thing …always great guys,” stated May Day.

Mention goes out to Slim Jim, who had a hell of game, notching a few goals and played his heart out.  He also brought his MGD Initiation case. (12 Beers held back, so everyone can enjoy the nectar next week) He still owes his regular 24 and then comes the 24 for missing the golf tournament, Announcement made, he knows and so do the Tomcats.
The start of the season gift was well received, Hollywood did a great job putting that together using the famous Tomcat slogan, ’Tomcats Forever’.  Even the purple was a nice touch, as the Tomcats have every tee shirt colour imaginable under the sun.

Jingles sporty the ‘Start of the year’ gift …looking spiffy ! You don’t want to be last on the block to own one …Yes sweet feet yes Nadia …another tomcat tee shirt!

Stevo and Sparky show you that the new tee shirt is very versatile and looks great with beige pants…

The Rake has come to camp in great shape “I worked out all summer …I’m ready to be that number 1 d man that the Tomcats expect me to be”..said Rake

On the Injury Front, Skippy has been placed on long term D L with what is being called a back injury, a bulged disc has been located and Skippy will undergo an intense series of physio.  If that does not work, then surgery is being discussed.  Skippy, ‘Get well, get well soon, we hope you get well soon’. Junior, who signed a deal in the summer with the Tomcats should be out soon as well as he is was injured in an off season workout injury to his hand.  Rocky remains off long term.
El Choppo was slated to be in the line up, but was a no show on the night.  Did he sign in the KHL?
Next week, Hollywood and Sparky remain out, if you know you are not able to play, let Stevo know.

In Golf News….
The Battle Creek trip was fantastic according to the Tomcats that went this year. …”I don’t think the weather has been any better then it was this past week…sunny..warm … just beautiful out” Stated May Day and added, “We laughed and laughed during golf and after golf, what a great trip”. May Day concluded.
Stevo stepped down as organizer of the trip and Chevy has stepped up to take over, “I look forward to he challenges this trip can bring. I hope we get 16 guys next year, it is a great trip, maybe some of the Tomcats can plead with their significant other to go”. Stated Chevy.  And speaking of Chevy, Chevy came through once again this year with a beautiful golf shirt with the Tomcat logo on it. “Chevy deserves a lot of credit for doing this for us, it costs him out of pocket money, but a great leader will do things like that, thank you Chevy”. Stated Stevo.
In the Chevy Two Many Scramble, (Newly named) Sparky and Stevo took the win becoming Champions for the very first time.  “We played well, we were never in trouble and we never thought that 3 never would take it, but I guess it did. Stated Sparky.

Sparky and Stevo, the 2018 Chevy Cup – 2 man scramble Battle Creek Champions …(they won a handsome hat)

Make sure you read Dick Fitzwell’s “Champ Rocks Gull Lake’ article as well.  You can find that one, just under this one. (Check out the Shirts Chevy got the Tomcats….very nice!!)
When you are checking out the photo of Sparky and Stevo and thinking, ‘Geez, I can beat those two in golf, maybe I should go next year, do you think I could put my Harry Ballsonue.

CHAMP ROCKS GULL LAKE September 18, 2018

By Dick Fitzwell

Augusta, Michigan: As you are all well aware by now, the annual golf trip to Gull Lake was a resounding success. As you also know, there were 10 guys on the trip. What you did not know is an 11th guy joined the group Wednesday afternoon for golf and then later at the bar for dinner.

Training Camp 2018
Bagz, May Day, Bug Easy, Stevo, Chevy , Bucko, La Bamba, Bubbles, Sea Lion And Sparky…

The Sea Lion played Bedford Valley in the morning round but left shortly after the round to attend a Golf Show in Kalamazoo, where he was scheduled to do a meet and greet with his fans. Because the Sea Lion felt bad about leaving Stevo in another dilemma because of all the guys who bailed on him previously, the Sea Lion arranged to have his cousin, The Champ play the afternoon round at Gull Lake West and then join the guys for dinner and festivities at the bar.

Pitbull and Sea Dog hanging in Battle Creek …” she bangs like a fairy on acid …I want to be where her ass is …on the Tomcats we have a few Greeks …if you didn’t go ..you missed a great time in Battle Creek.”

The Champ golfed in a group with La Bamba and Sparky. As they made the turn to play the 10th hole, AC DC was blaring out of LaBamba’s golf cart roof speakers, the Champ was swigging a bottle of Honey Bourbon while Sparky was taking a haul of a bottle of Fireball. La Bamba was into his 5th cigar of the day.

May Day, who was just lining up his tee shot as those guys made the turn, topped the ball and it rolled about 10 feet. “If those guys were Rodney Dangerfield, I most certainly was Judge Smale”, said May Day.

As is customary with Tomcat Golf, a shot is taken if a player makes a birdie. On this day, we figured those guys were under par every hole. Not the case. “We were drinking with scores of net bogey 5, because we were too drunk to make birdies”, explained Sparky. After the round Sparky went on a siesta while the Champ went on a tear.

The group met at the bar across the road for dinner. The catch of the day was the perch. “I have never seen a perch that big and I catch them all the time”, said Bucko. “Maybe its fake perch”, said Bagz. “I was starving and it could have been Humber River carp for all I cared”, said May Day. “I looked at my food for a minute and then over at May day’s plate and he absolutely destroyed his food. He even ate the plate”, said Bagz.

The Champ, who was exploring his menu options wondered out loud to server Kimmie, “Would you like some tartar sauce on your snapper”? The guys found this line among the finest lines the Champ or the Sea Lion have ever uttered. Stevo, who was literally in tears after the comment could not contain his laughter. “You can’t make this stuff up”, said Stevo.

After dinner, most of the guys returned home. The Big Easy made sure the guys crossed the road safely as he was all dressed up in his crossing guard attire.

Sparky, Bubbles and the Champ remained at the bar entertaining bartender Amy.

The highlight of the evening was the Champ doing wheelies on a Harley Davidson in the bar parking lot. “He looked like Evil Knevil out there. It was awesome”, said Bubbles. Sparky could be heard yelling, “One More” from the bar.

Sea Lion …the Easy Rider …and his pal Sammy….” there’s nothing like being on a bike on the open road with flies and bugs hitting your teeth,” said Sea Lion.

The last men standing returned home about 2:30 am, led by the Champ who had to carry Bubbles and Sparky home from the bar by himself. “These two guys are amateurs but they were fun to hang out with. I had to carry them both up 2 flights of stairs and toss them in bed”, said the Champ. “Have you ever tried carrying two drunk guys across a busy highway? Not easy”, added the Champ.

The Champ slept for 3 hours and the Sea Lion woke up and put himself together for the Thursday round. The Champ had another commitment. “

The Big Easy, who was having a morning coffee outside was talking to the Champ and noticed a small building behind the condo complexes. The Big Easy said, “Hey Champ, what kind of silly erection is that”? “Pardon”? asks the Champ……well you guys get it… and know the rest.

Preseason Action at the Kapusta…sort of

Posted by 81rocky on September 12, 2018
Posted in: Uncategorized. Leave a comment

Well, maybe not the preseason action you might think, but some very dedicated Tomcats were in full action last evening getting the Kapusta ready for regular Tuesday nights.  A crew consisting of Hollywood, Sunny, Doc, Kamikaze, Soupy, Rocky and young Atticus, spent their Tuesday evening getting the stage, floor and Tomcat room ready for action.

As you recall, there were several wood boards on the walls that were loose and had been taped over to try to secure.  Additionally, the metal corner pieces between the walls and floor were loose and both of these things were becoming safety concerns.  No worries, with a little elbow grease, and handy power tools, these things have all been fixed.

Doc spearheaded repairing the loose wall boards and corner trim pieces. The Kapusta will be a much safer place to play this season…and the ball should bounce more consistently off the corners now!

Hollywood shows off his torque drill. This man showed up to the Kapusta with every tool under the sun.

Assisting Doc and Hollywood, Rocky does his best Spiderman impersonation.

In addition, as you would expect, the gym and stage were a little dirty from months of no hockey and church yard sales.  After helping the hall remove the left over yard sale items, the crew also worked to sweep and mop all the wood flooring to make sure all Tomcats have a clean floor to run across without slipping.

Kamikaze, Soupy and Doc all take orders from future Tomcat star, Atticus. The youngster is already ripping off snapshots harder than his father.

No job is too small for these Tomcat faithfuls. Soupy and Kamikaze showed up when called and took an any job required to get the Kapusta ready for action.

The stage was also re-organized to make sure there is plenty of room for Tomcat socialization after hockey each night.  The boys also reinforced the benches and Hollywood is preparing to build a new board to fill the spot at the far end doors behind the net.

Thanks to these Tomcats for taking time out of their week to get the place ready.  Make sure to pass along your appreciation to these fine Tomcats for helping get the Kapusta ready for this season.  Without Hollywood, Sunny, Doc, Soupy and Kamikaze, this organization would not be where it is.  Cheers boys!

Reminder – Hockey starts next week, September 18th at 6:30pm sharp.  Watch for a “What the Tomcats Know” post later this week.  $50 for start of season, which includes a start of season gift.  Still $5 per night after that.  Stevo will be in charge on opening night so let him know if you are playing or not on Week 1.  Also, pay your $50 to Stevo.  Check out the updated Beer List and make sure to provide your beer on or before your night.

Here’s to another safe, fair and great Tomcat season!

Tomcats Forever!
