Teams:

Bulldog Honey Badgers: Captain Bulldog, Soupy, Chevy, Doc Tonto, Hollywood, Kamikaze, Jingles and Chico
Hurricane Hornets: Captain Hurricane, Beep, Rake, Matador, Snowpants, Falcon, Stevo, Killer and Junior

The teams split the series, 11-9 for the Hornets and then in overtime, Tonto scores to make it 8-7 for the Honey Badgers.  Hockey was a bit choppy so the league is asking that the boys watch their sticks and the hacking and whacking.  Jingles took a spill in the North West corner of the Kapusta Now, but early signs show him playing next week.Tomcat medical staff listed him as day to day with a lower body injury.

The Rake ..Hollywood and Chevy bought new Tomcats tee shirts for everyone …” we wanted to do something for the boys …lots of coloured shirts …we wanted a new white one …we are not acist …just so you know “stared The Rake

A big thank you goes out to three Tomcats who, on their very own got new tee shirts for everyone.  ‘It was a matter of getting a white tee shirt in the mix and we thought, if we pooled our money we could get everyone a new shirt”. Stated a smiling Chevy.  Chevy has been very generous over the years to the Tomcats and won an award last year for his Tomcat Spirit.  The Tomcats thank the guys for their Tomcat insight. The logo is an old design and instead of a black tee shirt, which is where it was placed originally, it has now been placed on white tee shirt. If you did not get your tee shirt this past Tuesday, Rake will get you one on your next Tomcat night.

ON THE INJURY FRONT

On the injury front, we are being told that Cribzie’s upper body injury, believed to be a back, has been healing and he should be back in January.  First Shea Weber returns for the Habs and now Cribzie returning for the Tomcats. another Festivess Miracle. As for Skuz, his recovery seems closer and he is eyeing a December 18 return, “Hey when I come back, they’re throwing me a big party downstairs, free pizza, beer and spirits, after all, I was the MVP in last year’s tournament”, stated a smiling Skuz.  (December 18 also happens to be the Tomcat Christmas Party.)

Skuz also feels he will be ready to play net for the tournament, come February 23.

TOMCAT CHRISTMAS PARTY

Rocky wanted a big thank you to go out to Sunny, Chevy and Snowpants for organizing the Christmas Party at Rock Bottom, “It’s a lot of work, sometimes its like herding cats, but Sunny and the boys do a great job, Chevy always comes through for us with a spot to have the party and the food.  Thanks boys, very much appreciated by everyone,” Rocky stated.

Tomcats were very happy with the turnout.

20 members of the Tomcats attended the Tomcat party this year, good times at Ridgemont High.

 

Brotherly love, they are not from Philadelphia but the brotherly love is there. Bulldog came out for the Tomcat Christmas party, nice to see!

 

3Oth YEAR ANNIVERSARY GIFT

As mentioned last week, Tomcats looking at doing a 30 year anniversary gift and a full track suit is being looked at. “Instead of having 25 track pants and jackets on stage, and everyone saying ‘oh I think that one is mine,’no that one is mine’, the Tomcats will get numbers on them, we will get numbers on the sleeve and on the pant thigh area”. Stated an information giving Rocky

Hollywood spoke to the boys on stage indicating that he will have samples for guys to try on starting next week.  A rough estimate of what it will cost each guy is $40 for a 90 dollar track suit. (That is just a estimate, contributions may be less, the numbers still have to be crunched). Top and Pants, with logo and your number on the sleeve and on the pant leg.  30 years together it certainly would be a collector’s item.

So for track suits and new jacket number issue, here is what we know:  IN ORDER TO KEEP YOUR NUMBER OR ASK FOR A NEW NUMBER, SEE ROCKY OR STEVO.  MOST OF THESE NUMBERS ARE ALREADY ASSIGNED, BUT SOME MAY WANT TO CHANGE THEIR NUMBER. (of course this is if everyone on this list would want a track suit)

BAG OF STUFF…Tomcats are building a bag of clothes shoes, etc.  It is for any one that forgets an item.  The bag needs some different size shoes and a pair of track pants.  Matador used a pair of shorts from the bag last night, so it already has come in handy.  If you borrow the item you take it home and wash it and bring it back and place it in the bag for the next user.

Doc and Kamikaze will need to know your commitment for the February 23 tournament. Who does
not want to be involved ? Look at this fine group. La Bamba knows how to put a team together. (One of the best Tomcat tournament tee shirts)

This is funny…Two psychotherapists pass each other in the hallway. The first says to the second, “Hello!”

The second smiles back nervously and half nods his head. When he is comfortably out of earshot, he mumbles, “God, I wonder what *that* was all about?”

If you have an item, fee free to donate it. HERE IS THE THING, if you use an item, YOU take it home and wash it, not like if you use a goalie shirt and just leave it in the room hanging. You wear it, you wash it. Common Sense.

The Tomcat Skinny: Right now, we have 20 players, that means a mini. But, 2-4 will cancel on Tuesday, someone always does, , its the way it is. So expect two teams.

Something You Probably Already Know: If there is a tie after two periods of play (one game) there will be two-2 minute overtime periods. It is sudden death, so if someone scores that’s it Goalies will change ends. This will apply in mini Tournament play as well.

Teams: Rake’s Raiders. Captain Rake, Soupy, Tonto, Chevy, Sheep Dog, Kamikaze, Snowpants and Rocky (Yes Rocky) and Terror in between the pipes.
Doc’s Lions. Doc Captain, Doc, Sunny, Matador, Sol, Helios, Chico, Sparky and Stevo in between the pipes.
What a night of Hockey, if you are not playing, you are missing out, stop making excuses about not coming out and come out. Be part of the excitement.
The Lions take the first game, 9-6 and then the Raiders storm back with an 11-9 victory, with Kamikaze scoring the winning goal with1:07left on the score clock. The Lions pulled the goalie but, to no avail, Raiders win, Raiders win. Snowpants chimed in, “Tonight, incredible hockey, Stevo, in net was on fire, you have to throw him in the water”.
Stevo, with the second game going, said to his team.”I only have a few super stupendous saves left in me, try to get a 3 goal lead”. Which the Lions did, but the Raiders were relentless in their pursuit of a victory.
Sunny’s boys were called up, they both played well, the future is bright when you have Sol and Helios in the wings. “ The fans, well, they’ve just been loving on us “ said Helios of his brother and him, with a smile on his face, bigger than the state of Montana.
Proud Papa Bear, Sunny, “There is nothing like it, getting to play with your children, I love these guys, not because they always try to set me up for goals, cuz they are great kids, the Unicorn did a great job on these two”.  Sunny said, with a smile.
In other news, Sheep Dog, who was suppose to bring a 12 next week, brought a 24 of MGD this week cuz he will not be there next week, put her there Sheepie. “Some guys come to score goals”, Sheep Dog said, and then added, “ and some come to drink beer”. (Season ticket holders who just come to see Sheep Dog play, can get their money refunded for that night at ticket windows 36, 54 and 72)
After Hockey, Terror, Doc, Sheep Dog, Kamikaze and Stevo went to a bar called Holligans, where Kamikaze picked up the tab. What a guy! Tomcat spirit !
December 18 will be the Tomcats last night of hockey for 2018. 2019 will mark the 30 years of the Windsor Tomcats (They were called the Fabulous Thunderbirds for two years prior to the Tomcat name) but the club has been indeed in inexistent for 30 years. 1989 The Turk said, “We can play basketball at St Vlad’s hall”. Now affectionately called ‘The Kapusta Kow Palace’ (named by Tomcats very own Spanky). Which brings me to my next point in this very interesting blog, the Tomcats are indeed looking to commemorate the 30 year anniversary with limited edition Windsor Tomcats Track suit. (Yes pants and top) Tomcat logo to be embroidered on the left chest area (Where the heart is almost) with your Tomcat number on the left sleeve and on the pants your number and Windsor Tomcats embroidered just like on the shorts that Sunny had done a few years back.
Rocky spoke to the troops that were present on stage last night. The Windsor Tomcat executive is interested in knowing if you are interested in purchasing an item like this? They would subsidize the item of course and your cost would be a fraction of its cost.

Tomcats will also issue new numbers in the series.  So start thinking about a number.  Also, the suits are open to any one who has played in the past as well.

Let Stevo, Rocky, Sunny or Doc know if you are interested. “Right now, we don’t know the cost. Hollywood is talking to his guy about getting us a price and then we will go from there”. The plan is to get a number of sizes for everyone to try on a jacket and pants so that the sizing would be perfect.
WithDecember 18being the last night of hockey, means the Tomcat Christmas Party in the Tomcat Club located in the lower level of the Kapusta Now Palace. Tomcats ask that if you plan to indulge, please make sure you have a DD. Tomcats will be paying for Pizza and supplying spirits and beer.

Week Nine…Divine

We are all getting older, but you could not tell that from last nights play. The hockey was fantastic.  ACTUAL QUOTE “ In the short time I have been playing, tonight was the best hockey I have had a chance to see, the teams were both incredible” State the Terror.  It was good hockey, the first game finished in a 10-10 tie, which meant a 3 minute 3 on 3 overtime game and no one scored so it finished 10-10.  The over time portion will be tweaked for next time, with two 2 minute periods being played.  Goalies will switch ends after the first period if no goal is scored.  “You could feel the intensity rise in the overtime, it was really cool” State The Terror.  In the second game, the Soupy Seamen took the game 9-5.
Fantastic hockey keep it up boys.  Those who could not play, you missed a good night.
Junior made a return and received a 25 minute standing ovation from the fans.  On his first shift, on his first shot on net, he put one in, top shelf where Grandma keeps the Sherry.  Great job Junior.
Thanks to Sparky, Sunny, The Rake, Sheep Dog, Chico, Beep and Stevo for helping in removing the empties from the Tomcat room.  Thanks Boys

Week 8, Damn Straight

Jingles Jets, Captain Jingles, Hollywood, Matador, Chico, Sunny Killer, Soupy and Stevo   
The Trojans swept the night with an 11-5 and 8-6 (open net goal) win.
No big issues with hockey just keep Good hockey going, you don’t have to worry about the score and if it is not marked it is not the end of the world, Also, in a 10-5 game, to you really need to score the 11th goal with 3 seconds left? Maybe come tournament time, whey you do want to rack up the score, but on a Tuesday night, is it really that important to you? Ask your self, ‘Do  I really need to score that 11th goal, I am going to be having beers with all the guys at the end of the night do I really need to piss guys off”.
 Hollywood brought a 12 of Amstel Light, Just Because, ‘put er there Hollywood, good doing’.
Great exchange between Matador, Killer and Stevo,
Stevo: “Do you want to play on the line with Sunny?’
Matador” “No I like playing with Killer cuz I can yell at him”.
Stevo goes over to the bench to Killer, “Hey, you are going to play on the line with Matador”.
Killer: “Oh…..So that he can yell at me”!
Too funny.

 

In the world of investigative journalism I came across a little ditty. Little is known but there is a poster to prove something is up with the Tomcats Rake. Does he have a band?

It has been noticed that same guys putting stuff up and putting stuff away.  If you did not put anything up at the start of the night and did not take anything down, at the end of the night, do you not think you should do something?  Tonto seen at the end of the night putting tables away, although he had set up at the start.  Snowpants, put all the sticks away and even straightened them up.  Tomcats still looking for ideas as to what to do with all the sticks.

Junior is to make his debut next week.  The Tomcats in a press release have indicated that Junior has passed all his physical, and medicals and his ready to go.

Halloween – A spooky Tomcat Night

Snowpants Scouts, Captain Snowpants, Sparky, Soupy, Tonto, Kamikaze, Jungles, Hurricane and playing in net Falcon
Speaking of playing in net, Falcon, reaches out to make the save of the century.  He is sprawling, falling, glove hand stretched out and flashes the leather and catches the ball. The fans go wild, what a save!
The teams split the night, with the Cheetah’s taking the first game, 9-7 and then the Snowpant Scouts took the second game, 7-6.  Very good hockey, not too intense, but well played.
The highly anticipated return of Junior was set back a week. Junior’s team of doctors have indicated he will make his season debut next week.
Nest week, Tomcats looking for a few volunteers to get there early to empty the Tomcat room of beer empties.  6:15 would be perfect time and Sparky and the Tomcats thank you.
So Bobby Orr has a new book, it is called ‘Bobby My Life in Pictures’.  When the wife or kids ask you what you want for Christmas this might be an idea you could throw at them.  Also Curtis Joseph, aka Cujo has a book out too and it is suppose to be spectacular.  Defiantly should be on your list for Santa.  The Toronto Star interviews Bobby about his book and life and he gives this quote:

“This isn’t a sprint, this is a marathon, and if mom and dad would just realize the competition is huge, you’re eventually competing against the world,” says Orr. “Very few make it. So what’s the purpose of playing minor hockey? Or minor baseball, or anything? It’s about learning to be a good teammate, to be responsible, to be dedicated to the sport you’re playing or the school you’re going to. Those are things you can learn anywhere. Love the game.”

Gee, sounds like Tomcat hockey.
Chevy not at hockey last night as he was opening a new restaurant.  He changed the name slightly, so everyone would not know it was his restaurant….Hmmmmm good thinking Shevy

Hollywood is organizing an eventon Saturday November 10.Two bands, lots of food, Tickets are $25 and five of that goes to food at the UNO Hall on Ottawa, (they make the best Perogies)

  Something else you should know:Chevy and Sparky are out, but slight chance they are in, but they are out…unless someone from regular line up drops out, then they can be in.

Hollywood is organizing an eventon Saturday November 10.Two bands, lots of food, Tickets are $25 and five of that goes to food at the UNO Hall on Ottawa, (they make the best Perogies)

TheTuesday nightparty will beon December 18.Tomcats to provide pizza and beer and spirits. Please make sure you have a DD
The Christmas Party at Rock Bottom will beon Friday November 23.It is an ‘Only Tomcats Event’, meaning no wives or Girl Friends are invited. There is some talk about getting a party bus, and going to a few bars. This is very very early in the planning stages, if you have any ideas, please contact Sunny or Chevy.

Week Six, Pick up Sticks

It was a mini, second one of the year, good hockey, no incidents so please keep it up. The league is asking that you to watch the slap shots.  No higher then the hip for the wind up. Your hip!. Not Jingles hip or Paul Bunyans.
Teams Sunny Spliffs , Captain Sunny, Beep, Spinner, Sparky, Stevo, May Day and Terror
Tonto Reefers Captain Tonto, Soupy, Chico, Kamikaze, Hurricane and the Rake
Tunnzie Mary Jane’s, Captain Tunzie, Chevy, Snowpants, Bulldog, Falcon, Sheep Dog and Killer
 
The Tomcat room is starting to get full with empties, (it is week six after all), so count on a clean up in the next few weeks.  You will be informed when your assistance will be needed.
Snowpants, once again took the sticks up to the room.  Tomcats are very happy with Snowpants role on the team, thanks Razor for bringing him out.
Speaking of sticks, Tomcats want to do something with all the extra sticks up stairs.  Looking for ideas from anyone who has one.  We can do a pink tape on the butt end of sticks being used and the rest could be placed in another area?  Ideas are welcome.  Please give this some thought. Let Stevo know what YOU think we should do.
Kudo’s go out to The Terror, there was a stack of red shirts (the ones used last night by the Tunzie Mary Jane’s).  The Terror indicated that HE WOULD take them home and wash them. Super work by Terror.
IF you use a goalie shirt or wear the red shirts consider taking them home to wash.  (Take the whole batch) Be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

MR. GORDON’S Tomcat Golf League
The commissioner, May Day, will be setting a date for the year end banquet.  It will be at Rock Bottom and it will be 2 for 1 chicken wings and it will be on a Thursday.  YOU MUST have played in the league this year in order to attend the banquet.  Alumni from last year are also invited.  Watch for a date to be set in the very near future.
As you are checking out the photo of Sheep Dog, and thinking, ‘yeah, for sure those three d man and Sheep Dog all fit’, do you think I could put my Harry Ballsonue.
