“Hollywood is not allowed to write any blogs in around Halloween….after the last debacle”  Rocky, President Windsor Tomcats
TEAMS

Shack Shack of Whores: Shackalicious, The Rake, Squid, Lizard, Rocky, Snowpants, The Terror(in net) and Sparkalicious

Bullwinkle Big Bashtone Bats: Bullwinkle, Chico(in net) Chevy, Tonto, Stevo, Kamikaze, Soupy and Killer

First game was a ‘rollercoaster’ with the Shack of Whore (Get it, Shack of horrors: Halloween theme) taking a 3 nothing lead, but the Big Bashtone Bats fought back to take a 4-3 lead, Back and forth, forth and back and then a 7-6 final for the Shack of Whores.
The Bullwinkle Big Bashtone Bats took second game 8-4 (Refs originally called a goal back, but after the game, the league had looked at it and Bullwinkle clearly put it in off the middle post, so the Big Bashtone Bats were credited with the goal and took that game 8-4.  THEN….Sparky saves the day and arrived with the clock and the last game was a timed 10 minute game (two 5 minutes halfs) (only fair) to change ends, and the Big Bashtone Bats took that one 1-0.
The Bullwinkle Big Bashtone Bats thought that the Lizard was using an illegal stick and asked the ref to have a look at it, after a ‘look see’ it was deemed to be a legal stick and the Big Bashtone Bats (also a Halloween theme, get it bats)  were assessed a 30 second penalty in the five minute period.  They killed off the penalty and were 1-0 on the penalty kill.  The Shack of Whores were 0-1 on the power play.
Rakes first night out, season debut and it was the same for the Squid, who notched 7 goals and looked stellar out there. “I worked out all summer with Gary Roberts I felt very good out there tonight and it did not hurt having the Lizard out there with me, feeding me pretty passes”. The Lizard and the Squid, sounds like a Walt Disney movie.
Thanks to Sparky for bringing kolbassa and cheese, ‘put her there Sparky’.

If you can’t play next week, please text Rocky

Summer 2018 The Rake, Sea Lion and Killer….well maybe it wasn’t quite 2018.

Sparky sometimes (working to be full time coach ) will go behind the bench and run the D.
Coach Sea Lion appreciates his
Cerebral defensive knowledge …(Sea Lion uses him when the Ledgend is Partying with Sammy Hagar in Cabo St Lucas and partakes in the Cabo Wabo Tequila …Snowpants asks to go 4 times a year but the Tomcats always say no.

After the game, Sparky came in to talk the players, he was not impressed and expressed his concern with each and every player.

Shoutouts – Here’s to the guys that make the Tomcats great by always contributing:

Stevo – arriving early, setting up by himself and cleaning up the beer empties

Doc – while on IR, still showing up and reffing. And yes, we abide by any call he makes
Sparky – fixing the Sparky Clock in his personal time
Hollywood – bringing beer (and extra beer) even though he is injured and has not played yet this season
The Rake – for actually bringing the snacks for afterwards
Snowpants – For always putting away the sticks and for covering the $5 charge for several fellow Tomcats
Soupy – Making the teams so Rocky can warm up
REMINDER RE CHRISTMAS PARTY

REMINDER RE BATTLE CREEK
See Chevy with your deposit if you are interested.
REMINDER RE TOURNAMENT
February 29, 2020.  Kamikaze to start recruitment soon, so make a decision re playing.  “Lets make this the best tournament ever”, Stated Soupy
In ending, cute Tomcat story, Franchise player Bullwinkle was heading out for hockey and his wife says’ Have fun out there tonight Bullwrtinkel”.  “It’s Bullwinkle”, then one of his 7 daughters said, “Yes Bullwinkle, franchise player”.  Everyone loves the Tomcats
Whilst you are checking out the three hunks and thinking, is that Rick Flair, Bret Hart or Randy Savage, or is it, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Dwayne ’the Rock’ Johnson and the Undertaker…or is it, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Cruise, do YOU THINK I COULD put my Harry Ballsonue.

Almost a mini, but not quite

Posted by 81rocky on October 16, 2019

What looked to be the second mini of the season (after the opening night), turned out to be just a 2-team night with almost full benches.  A couple of no shows caused us to switch at the 11th hour.  Is it so hard to text/email Rocky to let him know if you are playing or not?  Even texts to some players were not returned.  The Tomcats are looking to institute a mandatory fine for not notifying.

TEAMS:
St. Louis Shacklers – Shack (G), Snowpants, Bullwinkle, Hurricane, Rocky, Matador, Kamikaze, Sunny and Cribzie
Toronto Terrorons – Terror (G), Chico, Tonto, Chevy, Soupy, Beep, Killer and LaBamba

The first game was pretty back and forth ending in 7-6 win for the team from Toronto.  The second game, not so even, with Toronto taking it 7-3.  The final game was no surprise, with the much too talented Terrorons taking the tilt – 7-5.

Thanks to Doc for reffing once again and making calls related to the new slashing rule.  The Tomcats will continue to crack-down (no pun intended) on these infractions.  Beer was plentiful on stage after, and the usual banter ensued.  it was great seeing Cribzie and Matador make their season debuts and receive their start of the season gifts.

The Matador made his debut last night and was seen sporting last season’s tracksuit with this season’s new matching trucker hat.

Rocky is out next week on a scouting trip to Denver…the Tomcats heard their are some up and coming talent in that city and they know how to use their texting machines appropriately.  Kamikaze has the book.

Until next time,

Another 2 Teamer, No clocker

Last night had the Tomcats playing with two teams again. Games played to 7 like the old days as we await the return of the Sparky Clock.  Very even teams with each team winning a game by the score of 7-5.

The highlight was when Soupy ran the Falcon.  Totally not on purpose, and made for a good laugh.

A couple of goals were controversial. Good thing we had a ref, to make the final call. REMEMBER – The ref makes the call and the call is respected. It may not always be spot on, after all, last time I checked, our refs are humans, but it is always accepted. In cases without a ref, any board member that observed and makes the call, that call is accepted. Pretty simple really.  Your life, I promise, will not be altered in anyway by changing a call…I promise.

A hot October Night…or was it July?

The thing with heat is, no matter how cold you are, no matter how much you need warmth, it always, eventually, becomes too much.

Victoria Aveyard

For the select group of Tomcats that actually played Tuesday evening, they now know what it would be like if the Tomcats played through the summer.  You know that old, dusty floor that is often the cause for slipping?  It was so humid in the Kapusta last night, the floor offered no slip at all…screeching of shoes could be heard all evening.  The Falcon was overheard asking Snowpants, as he tried to broom the floor, to gather all the dust in front of his net so he could at least move side-to-side somewhat.  Snowpants also took time to open all the windows high up in the rafters of the Kapusta with the hopes any air movement would help.  Thanks for the efforts as always Snowy!

The teams taking part in SweatFest 2019 included:
Terror’s Torches – Terror, Kamikaze, Rocky, Chevy, Bullwinkle and Soupy
Falcon’s Furnaces – Falcon, Killer, Shack, Beep, Chico, Tonto and Snowpants

The teams played games of two timed periods of 10 minutes.  Falcon’s Furnaces proved to be the better team taking both games (3-1 then 8-5).  Despite the oppressive heat, the games were clean, passes were crisp and the saves were beautiful.

Huge shoutout to Bagz…due to low numbers, the Tomcats had to cancel him last minute again.  He still showed up to drop the puck, keep time (remember, the clock is currently broken), and to have a beer with the boys.  This guy is already becoming a Tomcat legend!  Also to Bullwinkle, who made sure the beer was on ice.  Another Legend in the making.  These new guys are already displaying what it really means to be a Tomcat!

And speaking of low numbers…several Tomcats thought to be returning in October did not show up.  REMEMBER – Unless you have specifically told Rocky the dates you are out, you need to let him know each week if you are not playing.  Check the website Monday afternoon, and if the Tomcats think you are in, and you are not, then let Rocky know.

That is all for now

“Failure is a part of success.  There is no such thing as a bed of roses all your life.  But failure will never stand in the way of success if you learn from it.”
Hank Aaron
Teams:
Soupy Black Aces: Falcon, Soupy, Chico, The Lizard (New Guy) La Bamba, Kamikaze, Stevo, Tonto and Bullwinkle

Sunny White Knights: The Terror, Sunny, Hurricane, Rocky, Bulldog, Chevy, Snowpants and Shack.

If you ou did not play last night, you missed some great hockey.  Old time hockey, no clock and the games were up to 7. (Sparky to fix clock next week).
So the Sunny White Knights came out like gang busters and took the first two games, 7-2 and 7-1.  Soupy in addressing his team before the third game talked about learning from the mistakes…”we are getting beat by some pretty boys from Wheatley.  C’mon guys, lets not let them sweep us.”  That’s when the Black Aces came out and took game 3, 7-3.  No hacking, no whacking, just some good clean passes, some good shots on net and some fine, fine hockey.
Bullwinkle paid his initiation case, 24 bottles of MGD…thanks Bullwinkle!
New guy, The Lizard, did well, he started to finally get a feel for the game in the third.
If you can’t make hockey next week, contact Rocky.
Other News From Training Camp

In case you missed it, the guys that went to the Tomcat Training camp this year got Windsor Tomcat Underwear, compliments of the Big Easy, Sea Lion and Stevo.  “We were given these bags and we all opened them at once and wow, there they were, Tomcat underwear.   I have been suggesting that for the past 15 years,” an exuberant Sparky said.
Stevo has two pairs left over, a Large pair and a XXL.  If you are interested in purchasing a pair, your cost is $15.  Money will go to the Tomcats.
If you are thinking about Hank Aaron’s quote and asking yourself, what NHL team did he play for, do you think, whilst you are thinking about that, that I could put my Harry Ballsonue.
