Can you say parity? The goalies (Falcon, Chico and Terror) were tasked with team selection last night and they showed they know Tomcats and how to draft. Every game was decided by a single point!!! In the end, The Terror’s team prevailed, but great action all night. Each team had only one spare, so lots of floor time for all.
Killer, forever the trend setter, was there showing off the latest fashion from Paris/New York/Monaco:
Remember – Next week, April 16th is the last week of hockey. Usually a good turnout so let Rocky know now if you are in our out!
30th Gala
All tickets are sold with only a handful of cash to be submitted Saturday. Deposit on the meal has been paid. Door prizes are being lined up (fee free to donate). REMEMBER to show up to the event with either chips or a dessert. The night be memorable with speeches, slide show, two fantastic bands rockin’ it out, great food, drinks…really, a celebration like no other in Tomcat’s history. Don’t miss it!
Board Meeting
April 30th, 6:30pm at Rocky’s place. All Tomcats welcome, not just the Board members come have a say in the future of the Tomcats. Rocky needs to know by April 16th if you are taking part.
TOMCAT GOLF TOURNAMENT HAS BEEN SET
For those wishing to play this year, you will not have to take off a Friday. The tournament will be held on Saturday June 15. The start time is at 9 a.m. EVERYONE is asked to be there (Where?) by 8 a.m. so that the two man teams can be selected. (Top 12 will pick bottom 12) ‘Pick Me Pick Me Hicksee’. Well hold on there little cowboys…the format is a two man scramble and it is my understanding that several of the drives will have to be used by the ’not so strong’ golfer…so, it is a win-win for everyone. Tournament will be held at Sutton Creek again this year, they do treat the Tomcats great there and the facility afterwards is excellent. So mark the date in your calendar and mark the time. Be there on time and for Sim Jim…BE THERE. Snowpants wants to emphasize the fact that guys need to commit in order to secure a playing partner. The teams will be arranged along with their ‘fair’ handicap (as the teams pairings are based on that – somewhat randomly).
ALSO, The Turks four man scramble is to be held at Ambassador on Saturday June 1. This is an excellent tournament and the prize table is very very good. The food back at the Kapusta Now is excellent, so arrange for a four man team and get your money in to the Turk. It is to raise funds to help off set some of the costs for the hall, the hall that we have played hockey in for the past 30 years, so show your support and come out and play.
Until next time,

Teams:
Falcon’s White Stripes – Falcon, Bullwinkle, El Chopo, Chevy, Hurricane, Tonto, Matador and Kramden
Terror’s Black Sabbaths – Terror, Squid, Shack, Kamikaze, Chico, LaBamba, Snowpants, Sunny, Jingles
The third-to-final night of hockey was a good ‘ole two team night. “Lord, send me an angel“…both benches were deep, layered with first-round pick after another. Someone commented that the salary of any 4 guys sitting on the bench at one time was larger than most other teams entire salary cap…but, hey, we are the Tomcats and we pay to keep our stars.
With such deep talent across the board, you can imagine how good the hockey was…I don’t even need to recap. Let’s just say TSN should have covered the action instead of showing Toronto get “Trashed” by the Hurricanes.
Of course, the action matters much less than “stage time” after hockey…
Only two more weeks of hockey left for this season. You don’t want to miss, so check your calendars and let Rocky know if you are in or out for April 9th and 16th.
Tomcat 30th Gala:

Last Night of Hockey: April 16
BY HARRY BALLSONUE
March, “Comes in like a Lion, out like a Lamb”

Sheep Dog Scottish Pipers: Sheep Dog, Jingles, Hollywood, Soupy, Shack and Stevo
Killer Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps: Killer, Cribzie, Beep, Hurricane, Bulldog, Q and Falcon
Exciting hockey once again, I have to wonder, what a team on a Tuesday last night would do with a team on a first night of hockey in September. The Fighting Kamikaze Marching Band took the night, with stellar play in net from Chico.
Net minders can win it or lose it for you, here, Falcon and Chico had outstanding nights where Stevo, not so much.
WFHLPA POLL
The NHLPA had their poll, ‘Player who is the most difficult to play against’: Sydney Crosby, ‘Most underrated Player’: Nicholas Backstrom, ‘Goalie hardest to score on’: Carey Price, Jonathon Quick, Pekke Rinne and Sergie Bobrovsky, No Freddie Anderson on that list.
The World Floor Hockey League Players Association Poll, Tomcat version has similar categories, ‘Most Underrated’: Tonto, Best Stick Handler, (where you can’t get the ball from him): Sunny, Best Deceptive Pass: Beep, Best bet to hack at the goalies glove: Killer and Doc, Best Beard: Anvil and Chico, Best Hockey Hair, Bulldog, Toughest D man to play against: Chico, Rocky. Best passer chest high: Sheep Dog, Best Slider: Snowpants. Best stickhandler moving in on a player: Soupy , Best Snap Shot: Tonto, Best Looking Tomcat: Jingles. Best Looking Tomcat over 50: Cribzie, Best curve in his shot: Chevy, Best Hockey Hair over 55: Hurricane, Best Chant: Hurricane blows in…..3 seconds.
INJURY FRONT
The Rake is listed week to week, Tonto is out on the 14 day DL although he was there to drop the ball for the opening ceremonial face-off….and May Day has been shut down for the year. Spinner and Turk along with Skuz are done for the year.
IF YOU KNOW….
If you know you are not playing next week, why not let Rocky know now.

‘Deception is a poison like Margarine”
From a Bradly Cooper movie
Teams:
Sunny Sierra Nevada’s: Captain Sunny, Bullwinkle, El Choppo, Cribzie, Shack, Rake, Beep, Bulldog and Killer
Soupy Smokey Mountains: Captain Soupy, Falcon, Sparky, Snowpants (Trackpants), Stevo, Jingles, Kamikaze, Chevy and Helios
First night back after the tournament and hockey was as fast as ever. The Sunny Sierra Nevada took the first game, 12-4 but then the Soupy Smokey Mountains stormed back in the second game to win 11-6. Good work out there by everyone.
Thanks to Shack who laced up the goal pads and played in net for the Sierra Nevada’s, and speaking of Shack, he modeled the new track suit for the fans and media.

Shack on the catwalk modelling the new Track Suit…”I’m too sexy for my suit…I’m too sexy for my suit,” was the song that played.
Snowpants had said, “How does everyone love their track pants?” To which Shack replied, “Love it, best track suit I have every owned!” To which Snowpants replied, “I love my track pants!” To which Cribzie asked, “Do you want your new nickname to be Trackpants instead of Snowpants?” Everyone laughed and laughed.
Snowpants put away the clock and sticks again this week. Super work Snowpants!

Helios marks his Man Sunny. “The man has taught me everything I know …I thought I could get the ball away from him …but I think he had it in a string,” said Helios.
Skippy made an appearance and donated a prize for the Tomcat 30th year anniversary gala and he also brought beer, “Just because’. Put her there Skippy!!! He is still out for the season, but is looking at making a comeback October November.
NOT HERE NEXT WEEK:
Kramden, Hollywood, Rocky, Doc, Kamikaze, Killer, Chevy, La Bamba and Beep. IF YOU KNOW you cannot play next week, March break, please let Stevo know, PLEASE LET HIM know before Tuesday if you can.
FROM THE INTERESTING FILES
You may or may have not noticed that # 6, once held by franchise player Crispy had not be reissued to anyone for quite some time, not to anyone except now. Young Tonto has been assigned number 6. “I feel honoured as a Tomcat fan, I watched Crispy as a young kid and as a Fab fan, I know Howie Morenz, Pierre Mondou, Ralph Backstrom, Shea Weber have all worn that number and so did Toe Blake, lucky for me my nickname is Tonto and not Toe”, stated Tonto. (As Hollywood would say, ’there is no toe like Tonto)

TOMCATS FOREVER !
by Harry Ballsonue
‘And the G. Finner award goes to…Hollywood’
Some great story lines this tournament, Lovie wins his very first Stanely’s cup and the MVP Award, Hollywood wins the G. Finner Award, Big Ned wins the Most Spprtsman like and…and,,,and…everyone else wins for being part of the tournament.
It was indeed a very good tournament, the first game was a bit choppy, but by the Championship Game, they were only playing hockey and yes, Lovie, a greater man you will never meet, won his first ever Stanely’s Cup. “I don’t know what to say, My first Stanley’s cup, and the MVP, there is no way I thought this would happen when I woke up this morning,” stated an openly weeping Lovie

First Time Stanley’s Cup Champion and MVP of the tournament, a greater guy you will never meet, Lovie.
The first game started out like it was a ‘do or die’, type of thing, hacking-wacking, but after that, things went very smoothly. In the first game the Snowpants team was down 5-2 to the Tonto Tomahawks, but they came back to tie the game up at 7-7.
The final game was played between the Rocky Rushers and Snowpant’s Shooting Stars and the Snowpant’s Shooting stars took the game 6-2. “I thought The Terror stood on his head in that game, we outshot them, but just could not score,” stated Matador.
THE G. FINNER AWARD
The G. Finner award went to Hollywood for his incredible work on the track suits, the 30th year anniversary tee shirt. He is responsible for building the boards and organizing the upcoming Tomcat 30 year anniversary Gala. He truly is a great Tomcat and is a deserving award winner.

For his hard work on tournament tee shirts over the years, for his work this year on the track suits and tee shirts, for previous board work and for always singing, “There’s no Pants like Snowpants,” the G. Finner award went to Hollywood.
No awards were handed out for the best looking Tomcats, but if there was an award, it would go to Jingles and Chico.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO MANY
Hollywood organized a limited edition Tomcat 30 Anniversary shirt and got 8 Tomcats to contribute to the shirt, so it would not cost the tomcats a single red dime. Those who contributed are: Hollywood, Sparky, Jingles, Lovie, The Rake, Chevy, Stevo and Rocky.
Special thanks go out to the four Captains, who organized their teams and paid for and provided tee shirts for their players and even went out of their way to provide shirts to members of the Tomcats who were not part of their team per say. Thanks to Sunny for giving a shirt to everyone and to the four Captains, Sunny, Rocky, Tonto and Snowpants.
Thanks to the refs, Sea Lion and the Bundura who had to take the verbal abuse from players. We hope this is not their last year.
Thanks to Doc and Kamikaze for organizing the tournament, a lot of work goes into the tournament and organizing the draft, and prizes, so thanks to them for doing an outstanding job.
THE 30 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TRACK SUIT
Wow, the track suits are impressive from the logo, to the entire suit. Great fit, great look, great job by Hollywood. All in all 46 track suits ordered.
IS THERE ANYTHING BETTER THAN THIS?
RUMOURS
A strong rumour circulating around the stage was that the Turk could have played this tournament, but Mrs. Turk would not let him, because she knew he would get 6 new Tomcat tee shirts. (Don’t worry Turk, I’m sure the Tomcats will get a few shirts your way….but shhhhhhh don’t tell Mrs. Turk)
LOST AND FOUND
A Beeps’ Honey Badger shirt was left on stage after the tournament. Anyone missing this shirt is asked to contact Hollywood.
30th Gala
The Tomcats are counting on all Tomcats selling 4 tickets to the big event. Get your money to Rocky in the coming weeks. The event is only 1.5 month away (April 13th). Check out the Tomcats Facebook page, set up and run by The Stomper:

Finally, a big Happy Birthday to Doc as today is his birthday. 50 never looked so good!
When you are checking out the picture of Jingles and Chico and thinking to yourself, ‘you know, they really are the best looking Tomcats’, do you think I could put my Harry Ballsonue.
