Big News Approaching By Harry Ballsonue
“I hear the train a comin, It’s rolling round the bend, and I ain’t seen the sunshine, since I don’t know when”
Johnny Cash
The Windsor Tomcats are busy rounding out free agency and looking at their roster for next year. They have lost a superstar in Lovie and up and comer Green Giant. They are back filling with Sheep Dog and El Choppo but is there more? Is there a new goalie in the Tomcat future.
New President Rocky is busy working the fax machine, the texting machine and the phone. “I’m excited about the upcoming year, we have some work to do with our goaltending situation, I know Skippy is on the road to recovery but will he be able to step in as the number three guy. We also have Danish to count on but it looks like Shack will not be available as he was last year so we need to look at some options”. Stated Rocky.
Rocky will be assessing the number of players on the upcoming roster and making decisions as the summer continues. ” I have a very important Tomcat meeting in the first week of July and I know that I will be brought up to speed on a number of items and topics “. Rocky concluded.
St. Felix comes out (Summer Issue) July 1 and everyone……EVERYONE is encouraged to have a look at it, I have been shown a few of the pages and I was told that it will be more than 6 pages! A record for the St. Felix…some incredible stories await the Tomcat Nation. You will not be disappointed.
So if you are thinking about Rocky with his shirt off, sitting by his pool, figuring out the Tomcat Roster for the 2016-17 season, do you think I could put my Harry Ballsonue.
Tomcat Golf Outing…..By Harry Ballsonue
“The more I practice, the Luckier I get”
Arnold Palmer
The day was glorious, with a strong field of participants, everyone came with high hopes and dreams, but only one would walk away with the Pantelon de Niege Jug and this year that one golfer, was Hicksee with a 78.
Snowpants had been leading all day, but Hicksee poured it on on the last few holes, driving the green on the par 4 – 17th, but then getting a boogey on the par 5 – 18th, but in the end, Hicksee won by 4 strokes. Beating out Snowpants who finished with 82. “I probably played one of the best rounds of my life, it is disappointing to not win, but hell, Hicksee deserves the win and the Pantelon de Niege Jug”. stated Snowpants the Minister of Golf, Score Keeping and Pyrotechnics. And Speaking of Pyrotechnics, the round was started, with Snowpants setting off a large firecracker, that made a loud bang and let the Golf World know that the Tomcats Golf Outing was in town.
Speaking of Snowpants, he did a super terrific job organizing the event, from customized score cards, to a beautiful prize table, with rewards going to closest to the pin on two holes and one for the longest drive. “I have to say, I am very very impressed on how awesome Snowpants did with the tournament, he deserves all the credit”. stated Rocky.
Snowpants was awarded with a nice prize from the Tomcats, (Donated by Hicksee) a bottle of Rye made by Forty Creek.
Sutton Creek deserves a huge kudos as well from the Tomcats for doing such a great job on pin placements, the hospitality at the club house, the score cards and of course the leader board on the t.v.. “This is really something”, Stated the Turk, “I love how they do that, it is very cool”. All scores were posted on the t.v. for all Tomcats and fans in the Club House to see.
A special presentation was also made, spear headed by Razor, the Tomcats got together and bought Stevo a beautiful professional tour golf bag which would be the envy of any golfer.
The Golf bag has Stevo’s name embroidered on the bag along with the Tomcat logo. “I am pretty sure I saw Stevo’s eyes well up when that golf bag came out, he was totally surprised and taken back by it”. Noted Soupy.
“I really can’t believe the boys did that for me, Razor I have been told deserves a good portion of the credit for Championing the cause, but I thank each and every Tomcat for the beautiful gift, I will think of everyone every time I use the golf bag, she is a beauty, I will bring it to the first night of hockey, for all to see and touch my bag”. Stated Stevo.
“We really wanted to do something for Stevo, for all the work he has put in for the Tomcat over the past 28 years, Rocky said it best when he said, if it wasn’t for Stevo and his passion for the Tomcats we would not be here today celebrating in a round of golf and having all the very strong friendships that we have”. Finished Razor.
Final Top 7 and their money prize….
Hicksee $1,000,000
Snowpants $660,000
Bagzz $480,000
Soupy $335,000
Sea Lion $ 270
Razor $196.000
Lovie $155,000
A great day, a great time a great bunch of guys. Thanks to all who participated, you had a great day, for those who could not make it, you missed a great day but there is always next year.
“I have a tip that will take five strokes off anyone’s golf game. It’s called an eraser”
Arnold Palmer
Hey, while you are admiring Stevo’s bag, do you think I could put my Harry Ballsonue
Kapusta Open by Harry Ballsonue
Turk’s Tournament Terrific
Tomcat Turk, helps organize a golf tournament with the proceeds going towards St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Cathedral building fund. You may know it as the Kapusta Kow Palace. This year the tournament was called ‘The Bill Buksa Memorial Kapusta Open’. It is named after a very good man who was a pillar in the Ukrainian Community, Bill Buksa.
The Turk does a fantastic job, and this year 10 Tomcats old and new participated, Spanky, Turk, May Day, the Bundura, Sea Lion, Stevo, Crispy, Snowpants, Sheep Dog and Cribzie. If you did not get a chance to play this year, make sure you do next year. The organizers do a great job with the course, prizes and dinner back at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Hall, yes, the Kapusta Kow Palace.
This year a Tomcat foursome of Team Captain, Snowpants, Crispy, Sheep Dog and Cribzie won the tournament, with a strong 10 under.
The day was hot and breezy but the cold drinks kept it very tolerable.
“Great to see the Tomcats that played this year, would love to see more next year.” Stated a beaming Turk and added, “we had 60 golfers this year, but I would love to see that number go to 100 next year”.
The prize table was quite remarkable and it seemed like Sea Lion won every third prize, winning closest to the pin on one hole, a door prize of wine and attachments in another, another prize included a St. Louis Blue coozie with other items attached, he won a meat certificate, a round of golf for four at Roseland and almost won the longest drive ‘closest to the line’. “It just happened”, stated an excited Sea Lion, “But the three guys I golfed with today was what made the day for me and of course see Crispy”. he added.
Please consider looking at playing next year, it is a great golf venue and well worth the money to play, ride, eat and win prizes.
Tomcat golf tournament goes this Friday at Sutton Creek. This too, is another fun day.
While you are thinking “I love golf and I love to ride and to eat and to win prizes’, do you think I could put my Harry Ballsonue.
