Favourite tomcat: Stevo would have to be my favourite Tomcat, he’s done a great job keeping the league with a great group of guys going since before I was born. (He’s that old) 
Favourite night with Tomcats: The annual Tomcat tournament, as well as the night Doc showed up with his fancy new Easton rubber response hockey stick. The stick was so sticky it caused his gloves to become infused to his stick causing him to have multiple wipeouts throughout the night.

Your favourite Tomcat:  I have 2 -Rocky because if it wasn’t for him bringing me in I would not be a Tomcat and Stevo! Love sitting next to these two guys on stage after playing and being able to shoot the shit and of course collect the bottle caps Stevo graciously gives me☺

MEET THE MATADOR: Toro-Toro

My favourite professional athlete:  Michael Jordan. MJ was just so dominate and competitive. I admire how much he won championships. 
My favourite play in sports:  This is a tough one so many to choose from. Crosby’s gold medal goal and Big Ben to Santonio Holmes in the End zone for a super bowl win probably takes the cake!  Shoutout to Bautisa’s bomb bat flip! 
My favourite hockey player growing up:  I would say was Doug Gilmour. When your nickname is ‘Killer’ as feisty and talented as he was, how can you not love the guy!
Favourite hockey player now:  Probably Austin Matthews. He’s playing a 200 ft. game and is dominating offensively. His deceiving shot is something I’ve never seen before. I’ve watched a lot of hockey and I think superior. 
Favourite movie: Terminator 2
Favourite band:  The Beatles.
I grew up listening to them and my family loves em as well. Classic Rock is my go to genre.  Special shout out to NWA lol
High school highlight:  Would have to be never once getting a detention. I was always able to talk my way out of them.  Never missed a party from grade 9-12 and wouldn’t change a thing!! Good times for sure!
What would you do for the Tomcats, if you could:  Since joining the Tomcats I’ve brought in 3 of my closet friends. The first thing I told them was how fucking amazing all these guys are. The camaraderie on the stage is something I will never take for granted.  You got guys from all walks of life sitting around shooting the shit, talking about sports and what happen on the floor.  There’s definitely a lot of wise successful fellas always ready to pass along advice when needed.  My favourite thing is when you walk in everyone asks you how you’re doing, how’s the family, and says man it’s nice to see you again!  I would do whatever is asked of me for this organization and I’m truly grateful to Stevo for bringing me in!
My favourite Tomcat:  This is a tough one. They are all fuckin beauties!  Stevo and Sunny are probably my favourites.  Stevo’s the Godfather and Sunny’s like the big brother.  Sunny and I have got into it on the floor a couple times because of our competitive nature.  I’ll tell ya, I felt so fuckin shitty after it was killing me.  Before I approached him, he approached me.  Me being the younger Tomcat I should’ve been the one who approached him first.  He apologized as did I.  We hugged it out and I respect the hell out of for it!  Special shout out to Snowpants!
Favourite Tomcat Moment:  Winning Stanley’s cup my first year as a Tomcat was truly special! I remember killing time in the far corner just waiting for someone to drill me! It never happened and I guzzled MGD out of the cup!

Golf Show on Hold, for now

There is no formal decision on having the golf show this year, but Chewy, last year’s Champion had this to offer, “As reigning golfer of the year I can show up for an hour and sign some balls for the fans. No appearance fee required I am a man of the people.”  We will keep everyone posted.

Your highlight in high school: Being selected to spend a week with NHL goaltender Dan Bouchard and forward Mark Osborne in Lyndsay Ont.  Dan was so weird, but very fun. Mark kept ripping shots at my head. Basically what Dan told me is that I needed to lift weights and get stronger….ummm yah….Not wrong advice but, well you know the outcome.
If you could do one thing for the Windsor Tomcats what would you do?  Become rich so no one ever had to work again and all we had to do is play Tomcat Hockey 4 days a week!!
Your favourite Tomcat: Many good guys to choose from to be honest with you.  I would have to go with my childhood friend of 40+ years Tonto.  I have never heard him say anything bad about anyone in my lifetime, he has a good heart.
Your Favourite Tomcat moment: Watching how excited the guys get every year on tournament day, especially Stevo.  It’s amazing to see that spark in people. It always makes me smile inside.

When the NHL had to postpone the January 1st Winter Classic due to COVID, they decided to move the game to February 20th. Why you might ask? They realized the Tomcats would be playing their Winter Classic game that morning, and the NHL wanted to take advantage of the captive hockey audience already preparing for a great day of hockey. Very smart people over there at the NHL!

The Tomcat Winter Classic did not disappoint. Thanks to May Day, Chevy and Labamba for finding a great venue, and for preparing the surface ahead of the event. Labamba came up with a Tomcat version of the Zamboni to help smooth out some rough patches in the natural ice. We now will call him Zambamba! Despite these best efforts, the occasional ice crevasse would send a Tomcat or two tumbling, resulting in a good laugh by all. PS – No Tomcats were injured during the making of the Winter Classic. We were also introduced to the son of Junior…Jr. Junior. Jr. Junior was definitely a planted ringer by the wiley ole’ Junior. The rest of the Tomcats all wished we had the energy and stamina of the young Junior…Tomcats are reportedly in talks for a Rookie contract for the young man.

In the end, the score did not matter…what mattered was a great time was had by all. Everyone headed back to Zambamba’s for some driveway beers afterwards. A very fine February Saturday for the Tomcats…the finest February Saturday that was not an official Tomcat Tournament!

Meet The Falcon

avourite professional golfer  Payne Stewart.  PGA’s best dressed golfer. Tragedy pure and simple Favourite golf ball  Everyone will probably say Pro v1 but i have to go with the Noodle. I can always keep my eye on my noodle Favourite hockey player growing up I can say just one. Will have to break it down into two time frames. When i was a wee lad i loved Mike Palmateer (even though he was a leaf). When i finally matured to a real hockey team i grew into #24 Robert Alan Probert from the Detroit Red Wings. He was a great role model for me growing up Favourite Hockey player now  This is a tough one. Lots if great players but none really stand out to me. If i had to say one that i enjoy watching it would have to be Connor McDavidr. The stuff he can do with the puck is incredible.  Fave movie  Im a big nerd and I am proud of that. I have to go with two series not movies. The entire Marvel cinematic universe and the Star wars saga. I can watch any of those movies any time of the day. Needless to say, this past year of the vid and working from home, ive watched every movie in order multiple multiple times.  Favourite band  Easy one. Van Halen including Van Hagar. Can listen to those songs all day. They are listed as my favourites with Alexa when im working around the house.  Your highlight in high school  A couple that stand out being it was so long ago and both include Rocky. Wouldn’t say they were good highlights 1. Getting a rushing touchdown and Rocky was my blocker (that was a backwards day) 2. Me being a cock blocker for Rocky on prom night. My car broke down with my date and we were stuck in their hotel room until I could get it started. Roxy was being nice until she politely asked me leave so she and Rocky could be alone If you could do one thing for the Windsor Tomcats what would you do  If i won the lottery i would make the dream come alive with our own arena and attached condos for tomcats in need to live or just sleep it off Your favourite Tomcat  Unfair question. I love every tomcats the same. NETS – IF ANYONE HAS 2 POND HOCKEY NETS, BRING THEM. IF NOT, WE CAN USE ORANGE PYLONS. NO GOALIES ARE NEEDED AS WE DONT WANT TO KILL ANYBODY.  JUST A GOOD OLD FASHIONED GAME OF SHINNY.

SHOVELS or SNOWBLOWER- PLEASE BRING A SHOVEL AS SOME HELP WILL BE REQUIRED PREPARING THE SURFACE.

“Believe me, the reward is not so great without the struggle” Wilma Rudolph, SprinterDo you know how many times I get “Geez Louise I miss the Tomcats”, or “Man I miss Tuesday nights”. It is very true, what the Windsor Tomcat have is a strong bond and the Pandemic has wedged itself in the middle.  Be aware of the new strains and stay safe. The Tomcats will be back, it may not be until September or November 2021, but they will be back.

TOMCAT NEWS
The Windsor Tomcats hace signed two new players that they were pursing, Skully, who will wear number 15 and Chewy, who was assigned number 24, “Im honoured to wear that number as it was Bob Probert’s number, I am not a fighter but a lover, but I will wear that number proudly.” As for Scully, I am being told by a reliable source, that during the negotiations with the Tomcats, Skully did ask if he could play in his  bare feet. Chewy signed a 3 year deal reportedly at 3.5mil per year and Skully a 2 year deal at $750,000 but all guaranteed money. “I worked out in the summer with Sunny at his hockey camp and he told me I have what it takes to be a Tomcat.” Skully had indicated.

Adding new Tomcats
The Windsor Tomcats are looking at adding two Wiley veterans to their roster.  Rumours are flying that the Tomcats are in talks with Skully of the Florida Tucans and Chewy who has decided to part ways with the Baltimore Flying Squirrels. Chewy had tweeted earlier in the week, ‘after spending almost 12 years with the Flying Squirrels, I think I need a change of scenery, I love the organization, the fans and I thank them, but it is time to move on’. 

Here We Are
As time marches on January fades into February, the Windsor Tomcats would already have the tournament teams made.  Hollywood wood would be taking design ideas and putting them on tshirts, the Lizard Lions, Big Ned’s Excellent Adventure, The Bullwinkle Moose and the Shackalious Love Shacks. (“Love Shack Rusted”) but, here we are in limbo all thinking the next “Play the ball” scream will probably be in September. Stay Positive, you never know, but in the mean time, be careful of the new strain.  

Chevystar-Hurricanerica Pharmaceutical  Company
Speaking of the COVID, news comes from the  brand new Pharmaceutical company Chevystar-Hurricanerica,  Owner and managing partner, Pontiac had this to offer, “We are very happy to report that the suppository vaccine is very effective and is  testing through the roof, with no side effects and is being delivered in packets of 6 to anyone that wants one.”  Are there new developments at Chevystar-Hurricanerica? Owner and managing partner Tornado had this to offer, “People want testing that is effective, we have developed an anal swab that not only tells you if you have the COVID it also tells you if you already had it, it also tells in females, if they watch too many HGTV and the shopping channel and in men,  it recognizes if they watch too many sporting events and porn, so far, we have not seen indications with the men.” Stated Tornado. 

Golf To Happen ?

Kapusta Open: It is a wait and see in regards to the Kapusta Open that would be organized by The Turk, nothing to report on that front.

Tomcat Open: Fathers Day is still being looked at by Snowpants.

Kobassa Open: Thursday July 17 is planned, but it is a look and see and then see and look some more to see what happens by end of March/April.

Battle Creek: “It is still too early to say anything but I would say it is not looking good for us to go in 2021 and not sure who really would want to go.  I will do something local like we did last year, I will provide dates soon, so stand by.” Indicated Chevy.

Golf Show
The Novi Golf Show is in March, (Novi is in Michigan) Sea Lion and Stevo go every year, May Day has gone too, as has Little Bird and the Howler.  This year, the golf show in Michigan does not look like a possibility and even if it was to be, the boarder may still not be open.  The Sea Lion has an idea, “We can have our own golf show – golf swap.  We can set a date and have any Tomcat that is interested bring their golf stuff that they want to sell or trade, clubs, balls, shoes, carts, bags, umbrellas what ever you want to bring, bring.” The Sea Lion stated with great enthusiasm.  “I can hold the event in my garage”, indicated Stevo and added, “We can do it on one of the first Saturdays in March when it warms up a bit, guys can come by and drop their equipment off earlier and put a price sticker on it and then if it sells it sells. We can do some sort of food and beverages too.  The event can run from noon to 4 pm.” And equally enthusiastic Stevo stated.  This is of course if things open up a bit and that gathering of any kind are allowed.

With all the attention on the recent US election and inauguration, one thing became apparent. Bernie Sanders has apparently been hiding in plain sight for a while. Who knew he was using his COVID mask to infiltrate many organizations and worldly hotspots to help try to create the “blue wave.” How did those gloves not give him away more? While his dream of spreading socialism across the globe may be more tempered then he really prefers, he nonetheless was stealthy enough to find his way into very important organizations and undoubtedly gain some knowledge he can use to further his cause.

That made us wonder…The Tomcats are a vital organization to Canada and the world…did he try to infiltrate us? Surely there is much to gain by listening from the shadows of the Kapusta Kow Palace. After all, very heady subjects are often discussed…will the Leafs make the playoffs?…why MGD is the best beer…was that body check into the wall intentional or was it just clumsy play? These are key bits of intelligence any potential world leader could leverage and maybe to the dismay of the Tomcats! What if he were to learn the lyrics of Tomcats Forever???

Since we don’t have security cameras rolling in the Kapusta, we relied on old photos. Wouldn’t you know it, Bernie has been here! Tomcat Management is deciding on the best course of action and will ensure the response is measured but firm!

What could Happen 

One Tomcat who does not wish to be named, but he was a past President is hoping that the Tomcats can start in April.  His idea is a four week season (Shortened like the NHL season) and with a tournament on the last Saturday of April ( Saturday May 1) 

It comes down to numbers….and if things get better COVID wise, who knows…..there is a thought out there…’if you think of something that is positive, the Universe is to help and see your vision come so if all Tomcats start thinking positive thoughts about a season, maybe it will come true. 

Tee Shirt Coming?

Hollywood is looking at doing a tournament shirt for this year, tournament or no tournament.  “I plan to do a goodie bag, you know maybe a tee shirt, some COVID Masks, maybe a package of those suppository vaccines from Chevystar-Hurricaerema”. Hollywood stated.

One golf tournament I forgot to mention in my last blog and who knows if it will be played this year is the Turks’ Kapusta Open, first Saturday of June.  Ambassador Golf Course, beer and dog and the turn, dinner back at the Kapusta Kow and a very good prize table…Let’s hope the COVID numbers get drastically better and that the tournament is played.

The Tomcat tournament in June could be a go, again, COVID numbers and vaccines by then?? Anyones guess

Kobassa Open in July, I predict we will be playing that tournament, but what do I know, I am a blogger for the Tomcats.

Flashback

Putting up the old picture of the Tomcats brought back memories not only of Razor, May Day, Junior and Libs, It brought memories of the Tomcats going back to Purples and singing Karaoke, one of the hazings, (Not sure if you can even say that in a blog) was each new Tomcat had to sing a song on the Karaoke machine.  Finner belted out ‘King of the road’, with no protest, Killer sang, so did others, I still think of Hurricanes version of the Rolling Stones, “I can’t get no Satisfaction”, and smile,  Karaoke superstar The Legend would sing ‘Born to be Wild’  and of course The Sealion, who was the Karaoke King, singing Mack The Knife “Stevo and I use to do a duet, a Willie Nelson Julio Inglesis number, ‘for all the girls I loved before’.  There were these two women that would request that song and throw their panties at us, they thought we were pretty good, now mind you, they had been drinking there since noon and where shit faced, but still a fan is a fan.” Sealion stated.

In ending

I don’t know what is going to happen next, most are saying, ‘lets hope there is Tomcat hockey come September.  Who knows how many more strains of the COVID there will be….I do know that everyone misses Tuesday nights.Lets think positive thoughts and maybe se can get it going before the summer. On the Grounds of National Interest

The way things are going, it is not looking good for ball hockey this year, new records being set in Ontario re cases, new aggressive strain, everyone needs to be more careful now then ever. Federal Government did allow the NHL to play, going on the grounds of National Interest, geez if only the Tomcats had a few more hits on the web site, maybe they could have started too. Maybe not National interest, but certainly Tomcat interest.

Golf

I predict we will be back to some form of normal in July 2021.  I do not have any inside information.  The Tomcat golf tournament, if it was to be how it is every year, the Fathers Day weekend, it would be held on Saturday June 19,2021.  Snowpants and his committee would have to decide if they would have it played this year.  Without knowing what will be happening 6 months from now, Snowpants and his committee  could organize a different version of the golf tournament.

Kobassa Open

I am being told, that plans are in the works to have the second annual Kobassa Open.  The date, (Mark it in your calendar today) is Thursday July 15, 2021.  The format will remain the same, it will be a two man scramble with some slight variations to some of the rule/shots. Of course a get together afterwards is too difficult to predict today. Stevo indicated that he will try to change teams up, so that the player you played with last year, will not be the same player you have this year.  It is about golf, having some fun and getting to know new people.  One rule that is being implemented is that on the two par 5’s one player’s drive has to be used on one of the front par 5’s and the the other players drive on the second par five.  This would be same for the par 3’s and of course this would apply to the front 9 and to the back 9.

A Newer Vaccine

A newer vaccine being looked at that has 100% effectiveness is being developed by a pharmaceutical company called Chevystar-Hurricanema is taken orally, and does not need to be stored at frozen temperatures. A representative for the company who dod not wish to be named also indicated that they are working on a Suppository version of the vaccine. “It is very ground breaking.” The companies representative stated.

Good morning Tomcats,

If 2020 had been anywhere close to a normal year, we would all be starting a few week hiatus from hockey to enjoy in the merriment and cheer of the holidays. We also would have just wrapped up the final Tuesday night of hockey, including our annual party downstairs in the hall, having pizza and drinks to toast the coming holidays. Since we could not do that this year, we thought we would take a trip down memory lane, starting with a fun little Tomcat Christmas story:

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through Tomcat land
Not a player was stirring, not even Hurricane Hann;
The hockey gloves were hung by the stage by Snowpants,
In hopes that St. Razor would soon do his dance;

The Tomcats were preparing for the last nigh of hockey,
While visions of flying cooler lids made them cocky;
And Hollywood in his head band, and Chevy in his ball cap,
Were just getting the coolers of MJD tapped,

When out on the Kapusta floor a tussle ensued,
Sunny and Soupy sprang from the bench to witness the feud.
Staring at the far corner, all players froze,
While Kamikaze and Killer traded elbows.

Lovie spoke up, and sent the guys to the bench,
To cool their jets, and their thirst to quench.
When, what to our wondering ears was the call,
Stevo yelled out, “Play the damn ball!”

Then little old Bullwinkle, so lively and quick,
Snapped up the ball and passed it to Nick (Mayday).
More rapid than The Eagle, Nick’s shot was a beacon,
And whistled right by the glove of The Falcon;

“Now, Tunzie! now, Cribzie! now, Jingles and Doc!
On, Sheepdog! on Matador! on, Terror and Rock!
Ho Shack! Ho Lizard! Ho Squid! and Tonto!
Yes Anvil! Yes Frostbite! Yes Big Ned! and Chopo!
To the top of the stage! To the basement of the hall!
Now drink away! drink away! drink away all!”

Their eyes — how they twinkled! Their steps, how they stumble!
No wonder some nights we see so many rumbles
The stage celebration continues downstairs in the hall,
And the boys remember fondly watching Bulldog almost fall;

Rake brings extra snacks, a right jolly old cat,
And Sparky gets credit, for this and that;
Stories are shared, in true Tomcat cheer,
While LaBamba and Chico toast to another great year;

They speak many words, and avoid further work,
As we listen to tales shared by The Turk,
Beep worries in anguish about his veggie delight,
Will Turk proclaim veggies on pizza ain’t right?

The Tomcats remember the greats that came before us,
Sea Lion, The Mayor, The Legend and Bucko Morris,
Crispy, Bundura, Bearcat and Finner,
Each and every Tomcat will always be winners!

So without further adieu, I’ll try to be clever,
