TOMCAT GOLF Tomcat Golf Tournament is on Saturday June 13, 2020, please count on being there. 8:30 start, cost and such to be provided by Snowpants once the golf season begins.

KOBASSA OPEN Any and All Tomcats are invited to participate in this inaugural event, being hosted by Stevo on Friday July 17, it does cost $10 to get in, but that includes your food and beverages back at Stevo’s where the awards ceremony will be held.

Covid 19 is a new strain of coronavirus originated in Wuhan, China, with scientist believing that the outbreak started at a seafood market in December. Scientists think that the source of the outbreak was an animal and it’s been postulated that the virus could have spread to humans via, bats, snakes or even pangolins, although it’s not yet known for sure which type of animal was the source. In February, the World Health Organization, announced that the disease, previously known as ‘novel coronavirus’ wold be officially be named Covid-19.  The disease is also commonly referred to as simply ‘coronavirus’ because Covid-19 is a new strain belonging to the coronavirus group of viruses. No runaway winner from what the hockey experts are saying right now, the Ginger Bread Man chimed in, with Bulldog Pelee  Inlanders vs the Chico Bunch of Jerks in the final. Skippy will have his say in a few days and his blog will be posted for all to enjoy.

NEW GOLF TOURNAMENT; FRIDAY JULY 17, KOBASSA OPEN

Stevo is organizing a new golf tournament this year, it is a two man scramble, it will be called the Kobassa Open, not the Keilbassa Open…cost is $10 to enter plus golf cost.  $10 will get you dinner and drinks after the golf tournament at Stevo’s place.  There will also be a first place prize for the winners.  If interested get your $10 to hold your spot.  The tournament will only go with an even amount of guys (two man scramble, if you understand the concept).  It should be a fun day, it’s a Friday in the summer, so, why not join to play.

NHL STEALS TOMCAT MINI FORMAT

Not sure if you watched the NHL all star game this past weekend, but did you notice their format, 4 teams, a mini tournament….Hmmmmm…..

It was suggested to Rocky, that everyone get a room to a hotel and that the four Captains, Jingles, Bulldog, Stevo and Chico go to each room at 4:30 in the morning  (Canadian Juniors) and wake the guys up, telling them what team they are on, but Rocky said, “knowing the Tomcats, none of them would wake up to answer the door, so just do it the way we have always done it”.

Very good hockey last night in a mini, but Kamikaze went down in the second to last game, the latest is from the Doctors at the hospital, X Rays taken, no fracture, temporary cast put on (just in case) and the Kamikaze to go to the clinic tomorrow for further review. All the Tomcats are saying is that it is a lower body injury and that he will be assessed tomorrow and that he could be out for a few weeks. It was Kamikaze’s birthday tonight.  It was Sunny’s birthday too, he did not play and spent it with his family, the Unicorn and Helios.

Sheep Dog scored 7 goals last night, he was on fire, first star.

Big thanks goes to Chevy who accompanied  Kamikaze to the hospital, as the story goes, when the nurse asked if he was allergic to anything, he had answered ‘penicillin’, to which Doc and Chevy both piped up with, “ shouldn’t you tell her about the latex and KY allergy”.  Tomcats !! What fun guys.

Last night of Hockey / Players only Christmas Party

Tuesday December 17, 2019 will be the last night of hockey for the Windsor Tomcats in 2019.  Pizza to be organized (By Jingles) and he or someone will collect $10 a person for the pizza.  Beer and spirits to be provided, but the Tomcats are asking that you have a DD or take a cab or Uber if you plan to indulge. Tomcats are being told that a BIG surprise guest will attend that night. We do not know who it is, but….show up to find out.

Sheep Dog SNOW LEOPARDS: Sheep Dog, Bullwinkle, Snowpants, Tonto, Cribzie, Stevo, The Rake and The Terror (in Net)

A perfect night to play at the Kapusta Now Palace, only two teams (last week three teams and three spares a side) this week one team had two spares and the other team had 3 spares.  Soupy made the teams.  The Sheep Dog Snow Leopards took both games, first game, was a goaltender duo, although the score does not reflect it, 10-9.  In the second game, The Falcon came across with his pad and made a super spectacular save with his pad, probably the save of the year.  The Terror was peppered with shots from the Panthers big guns, Chevy, Soupy, El Choppo but he held his own and kept the ball out, the Sheep Dog Snow Leopards take the second game, 8-4.

Debut by Kramden and Sheepdog had the place sold out …Both asked to get a photo taken with the Franchise Player …Bullwinkle 

Ref Doc called a penalty on the Panthers, Soupy was sent off for knocking the net off.  (the Snow Leopards went 0-1 on their power play and the Kramden Panthers were 1-0 on the penalty kill)

As you read the heading, do you know that it is only 107 days away.  The draft will go January 14 or 21 and that is only 62 days away. Kamikaze and Soupy will be sending an email out to everyone asking if you are able to play this year.  Captains are Jingles (Will the Jingle Jets return), Bulldog, (The Bulldogs), Stevo, (Is it the Stevo Stingrays again this year) and Chico, ( a first time tournament team captain ) What team name will Chico come up with.

Don Cherry

I must say that Sports Net dropped the ball in firing Don Cherry, I am glad they do not carry any of the Tomcat Games.  People should boycott Labatts and who ever they pick to replace Don Cherry the King of Hockey.  He knows hockey and is a dynamic personality.  People should wear a poppy no matter who you are. Don is one of the greatest Canadians ever and should be so recognized.  Shame on you Ron McLean for not sticking up for your mate, he made you and you threw him under the bus.  Where would you be today if it was not for Don, would you be doing weather in Saskatchewan?  I think some smart organization will hire Don Cherry and viewers and listeners will flock to where he is, if he wants to continue in broadcasting.  But maybe he should run for PM instead and tell Canada to lighten up.

Two spares a side made it perfect hockey …Snowpants accounted for all the goals for the Kribzie Koala Bears…( with Chevy scoring one ) for the Kamikaze Kangaroos it was all Bullwinkle and the Hurricane notching all the goals “the three of them could not miss tonight “indicated Doc the referee.

Scores ended up being 7-5, 7-4 for the Kangaroos and 4-3 for the Koala Bears …in the final game of the evening.

A number of players indicated that it was very good hockey last night and it was, the final scores, interestingly enough were 6-5 and 4-2 for the Chico Maserati’s.  The La Bamba Gremlins were too scared to even show up and play.  “The hockey was solid tonight, and the passing and scoring was right on”, indicated Chico,

New netminder, originally named T.T. ( named after Tim Thomas : He looks like him ) was renamed Frost Bite, cuz according to Bulldog and Jingles, he stuck to the post like frost.  “I can tell you it was an exciting evening for me, both my parents and my brother were in attendance and winning both games and getting a cool nick name and a tee shirt, oh my, I can’t believe it, pinch me, I’m dreaming”, stated an openly weeping Frost Bite.

 # 38 Frost bite, a 2nd round pick in 2016 of the Tomcats proved to be all that and more, winning his first two games, with a GAA of 3.5 and a save percentage of .966.  Skippy watch out, there is a new bull in the corral.

ARE YOU PLAYING NEXT WEEK?

If you know you can’t play next week, let Rocky or Stevo know, right now, believe it or not, the only player that is questionable is the Rake.  (And the IR folks, Skippy, Turk, Big Easy, Tunzie, Skuz and Spinner).

TOMCAT GOLF TOURNAMENT HAS BEEN SET

For those wishing to play this year, you will not have to take off a Friday.  The tournament will be held on Saturday June 15.  The start time is at 9 a.m.  EVERYONE is asked to be there (Where?) by 8 a.m. so that the two man teams can be selected. (Top 12 will pick bottom 12) ‘Pick Me Pick Me Hicksee’.  Well hold on there little cowboys…the format is a two man scramble and it is my understanding that several of the drives will have to be used by the ’not so strong’ golfer…so, it is a win-win for everyone.  Tournament will be held at Sutton Creek again this year, they do treat the Tomcats  great there and the facility afterwards is excellent.  So mark the date in your calendar and mark the time.  Be there on time and for Sim Jim…BE THERE. Snowpants wants to emphasize the fact that guys need to commit in order to secure a playing partner.  The teams will be arranged along with their ‘fair’ handicap (as the teams pairings are based on that – somewhat randomly).

ALSO, The Turks four man scramble is to be held at Ambassador on Saturday June 1.  This is an excellent tournament and the prize table is very very good.  The food back at the Kapusta Now is excellent, so arrange for a four man team and get your money in to the Turk. It is to raise funds to help off set some of the costs for the hall, the hall that we have played hockey in for the past 30 years, so show your support and come out and play.
