I don’t often get a chance to report on the games; and its a shame as my instincts for which teams are likely to win come ‘Mini Tournament’ time have been bang on.
Case in point was last nights shortened event, and I say shortened as the White team (The Chevy Barracudas) was soooooo good the final games between Black (The Spinner Goliath Tiger Fish – fit that on a jersey!) and Red (Stevo’s Stingrays) didn’t even have to be played.
White simply dominated.
With a line up that included the likes of Doc and Kamikaze lighting it up along with scoring superstars Sunny/Beep – AND Falcon backstopping – well; it almost wasn’t fair. I think there were two shutouts on the night from Falcon; which might well be a record…
Those first two games saw the team accumulated a quick 11 combined goals. Plus/minus just got tossed out the window. Poor Skippy and Scuz each looked a little shell shocked after getting manhandled. I think that third game was a moot point anyway and a smart Tomcat (Matador) suggested the drinks start flowing early. No one raised an objection.
Thing I did see my esteemed writing colleague; including the league and management, was the 3 star selection. Quite obviously 1st star went to Falcon, 2nd to Doc and 3rd to Kamikaze. When contacted by press Falcon replied, ‘geez, I only really faced about 10 shots all night’. Honourable mention goes to Skippy; whom was recently at Queens Park collecting a medal for outstanding citizenship.
Whilst Skippy is busy clutching his new bauble, I noticed his other Handzonmecac.
