Kapusta Open by Harry Ballsonue
Turk’s Tournament Terrific
Tomcat Turk, helps organize a golf tournament with the proceeds going towards St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Cathedral building fund. You may know it as the Kapusta Kow Palace. This year the tournament was called ‘The Bill Buksa Memorial Kapusta Open’. It is named after a very good man who was a pillar in the Ukrainian Community, Bill Buksa.
The Turk does a fantastic job, and this year 10 Tomcats old and new participated, Spanky, Turk, May Day, the Bundura, Sea Lion, Stevo, Crispy, Snowpants, Sheep Dog and Cribzie. If you did not get a chance to play this year, make sure you do next year. The organizers do a great job with the course, prizes and dinner back at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Hall, yes, the Kapusta Kow Palace.
This year a Tomcat foursome of Team Captain, Snowpants, Crispy, Sheep Dog and Cribzie won the tournament, with a strong 10 under.
The day was hot and breezy but the cold drinks kept it very tolerable.
“Great to see the Tomcats that played this year, would love to see more next year.” Stated a beaming Turk and added, “we had 60 golfers this year, but I would love to see that number go to 100 next year”.
The prize table was quite remarkable and it seemed like Sea Lion won every third prize, winning closest to the pin on one hole, a door prize of wine and attachments in another, another prize included a St. Louis Blue coozie with other items attached, he won a meat certificate, a round of golf for four at Roseland and almost won the longest drive ‘closest to the line’. “It just happened”, stated an excited Sea Lion, “But the three guys I golfed with today was what made the day for me and of course see Crispy”. he added.
Please consider looking at playing next year, it is a great golf venue and well worth the money to play, ride, eat and win prizes.
Tomcat golf tournament goes this Friday at Sutton Creek. This too, is another fun day.
While you are thinking “I love golf and I love to ride and to eat and to win prizes’, do you think I could put my Harry Ballsonue.
