As we start 2014, my last few months as being the President, I wanted to say what a great ride this has been. Sitting up on stage, waiting for everyone to open their Christmas present this past December 17, really touched me. Where else would you get guys to wait. We were all like little kids at Christmas waiting to open our gift from Tomcat Santa. The Tomcat Spirit is alive and well…soon the draft will be done for the upcoming tournament and before you know it, the tournament will get played and a Stanley’s Cup Champion will get crowned and then the outdoor game will be upon us…time goes by quickly. “Life is what happens to you when you’re making other plans.” John Lennon said that and it is so true!
The Tomcats are the greatest bunch of guys I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and being with.
So as we embark on the next 14 weeks of hockey, I leave you with a quote from Nelson Mandela…because as Tomcats, we need to always continue trying to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous!
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and a fabulous?”
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are born to manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us, it’s in everyone, and as we let our own light shine, we consciously give other people
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
Nelson Mandela
God Bless the Tomcats.
