Although the Tomcats had 18 players out on March 19, a four on four game could have been played, but a mini was held. After a couple of late cancellations on the Tuesday, Tomcats were flirting with a mini vs. a regular game, Mez was picked on a team, but never showed up. Disappointing for those that cancel on the Tuesday but more disappointing for those that never show up.
“It was good that guys never showed up”, indicated Soupy, ” I thought the hockey was excellent” added Soupy. With one spare a side per team, the action was fierce and the sweat was in abundance. In the end, The Banana Creams took the tournament with 7 points and a plus 6. In the final game of the Mimi, the Creams were down for most of the game, the Mudslides played their best game, (If Mudslides won by one goal, the the Limes would have won the mini) but then the game got tied up by the Creams on a Soupy blast and then with 3 seconds left, Soupy won it for the Creams with another shot from center.
“I felt good out there today,” indicated Soupy, “Stevo and I have never had any success on the same team, but today it all seemed to fall into place” Soupy concluded.
“It was a disappointing night for us” stated Cribzie, “we seemed to do all the wrong things tonight”. He concluded.
The three stars as selected by La Bamba, third star, Soupy, the second Star Stevo and the first star Razor. “This was my first time ever being selected as star”indicated a beaming Stevo. “Thanks La Bamba for selecting me”. Stevo concluded.
Strong consideration should also go to the Hurricane who played a Bobby Orr-esk games and was not selected as a star.
Sparky played one of his best nights ever I thought and was also not selected as a star, but that would mean Jingles would have been the only man out, if 5 stars were selected and all were from the Banana Creams.
The new Lime Green shirts were used for the first time and they looked sharp.
Snowpants had a stellar game notching a few goals and making some very good passes into the slot. “You know, I try out there, sometimes they go in and sometimes they don’t,” a happy Snowpants had stated.
Overall a fantastic night and some very good hockey played.
At the end of the night, on stage, Chico and Ogie were presented with ‘Tomcats Forever’ bracelets and donned them immediately.
On stage, the boys used the score clock table as a bar and stood around it telling stories and laughing and laughing and laughing.
“The hockey is nice, but it is having a beer after with the guys, is what I look forward to” indicated Chico.
Hey, while you are standing there at the Score Clock table, pretending it is a bar, can I put my Harry Ballsonue?
